1.2 16v. Is it true that changing to 5w 30 oil quietens it down?

A tiny bit but the only real way is more oil changes

You might find out if you have any leaky seals/gaskets too if you switch over to 5w30 (as it's thinner). My Corsa SXi has had regular oil changes, but it still rattles and i think it's down to the crap tensioners they used. I've been quoted £135+VAT to replace the complete kit (chain, tensioners, guide rails, gears etc...)... This is the price if i supply the parts.

Speaking of Oil on this subject i still think im leaking a bit only when driving. seem to leak in between the oil sump and bell housing. even with all the seals replaced etc. strange one.

Have the front/rear cranks seals been replaced too? I had my sump gasket and oil pressure switch replaced a little while ago which sorted 90% of my oil leaks... There's still a very tiny leak coming from somewhere and it ends up dripping off the bottom of the bell housing. I've been told it could be one of the crank seals, but it's not really an issue at the moment as the leak is very minimal.

Thats the same as my car then ! i restored my engine from top to toe and yes the crank seals were replaced too so i cant figure it out. i was thinking of putting a skim of liquid gasket on the bell housing but i was afraid of the oil gathering up and going into the gearbox / flywheel. or pooling up and leaking higher up the engine.
