C14SE hose w/AC

Post by ukhozi »

Anyone know part number or has the EPG for a 1995 C14SE Corsa B sport with AC top hose, keep running into ones bent 90 degrees, (no AC) but mine is almost straight (with AC)
While we are here, dear wife complaind of lack of power and smoke from rear when accelerating. AFTER driving it 30 miles. No coolant in the tank  plugs out and number 1 and 2 looked fine, number 3 was fouled :( and black, number 4 covered in coolant :o , turned the engine over and it blew green coolant everywhere. Is it likely to just be the head gasket in the area of number 4 or is there a history of cracked heads on the C14SE?

Go to your local opel dealer and tell them what your after, i could get one but postage would be stupid dear,

Your head is blown if the coolant is in the combustion chambers, dont think the head would crack, it will need skimmed and pressure tested just
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Head now off and large gap between 3 and 4 and leaking back of 4 into water way. also the two petrol pipes need replacing NOW and part 90448853 rear water pipe has lost its small take off tail for the inlet pipe so that's another 29€ but the local Opel dealer was very good and said, "two days and no need for a deposit, I'll take the order on the phone", cool. Just need to find a firm who can skim the head without ripping me off. Good job these C14SE engines a doddle to work on.

Did the head gasket on my old C14NZ a few times too, each time was always between pistons 3&4. Make sure you get new head bolts while you're at it.

Skimming shouldn't cost more than €35 I reckon.

Head skimmed for 50€, a bit pricy but a nice polished finish. all sorted a nd running better than ever, these engines are so easy to work on.
New head bolts and gasket kit on Ebay 48 quid inc FedEx. so oall done for under a ton and a days work.
BUT! it is using a bit too much fuel, plugs are the right colour, bit of carbon on the pistons, quite poor fuel consumption on motorway speeds, like 12 l/100km (19.6mpg), would have hoped nearer 9 or 10L/100km. (26mpg) and 7l/100km (33.6mpg) cruising at 88 kph (55mph).
Engine now uses no water and very, very little oil even when used on long runs, does about 130km a day.(80miles)

I find the throttle response very sharp on the bottom end, not too good for the rear engine mounting. OK up the rev range but I would love it a bit softer on response when pulling away without having to give it a load of clutch slip.

Boti, as we call her, 'cause reg is BO****T) has been running fine for a couple of weeks now and not using any water for the first time ever, but is using a bit of oil, (1L per 1,000 miles) passed the emissions test last month after the head skim and no smoke, any ideas?
Also what fuel consumption could I expect from a C14SE driven on the main road/highway at a steady 70 MPH with a bit of town work each end?

How have you worked out your losing a litre per 1000m

Fuel consumpstion varys from car to car depending on condition of engine, driving style, if theres any unnessary crap in the car even your own weight will impact mpg a bit, but you should get at least 40mpg
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Update,
Since the head job I had a problem as you know with the test and emissions which came down the ECU and Lambda and it past.
Still trying to get fuel consumption down, doing about 30mpg at the moment.

Drove about urban roads the other weekend and whilst it didn't get hot, (new rad etc) it did start to 'pink' under load at low revs, (1700>2100), doesn't do it driving on the road normally and was OK on the way home and of course I can't change the timing as it's fixed.
