Alternator/Battery fault leading to immobiliser? x14sz

Hi guys,

The car is a 1.4 premier engine code x14sz
forgive the noobishness but i have an annoying problem. On Monday when coming home from work the battery light came on when starting the car and there was a slight whining noise, the light went out after a few moments, it drove fine home but when i turned off the ignition the battery light came back on and stayed on after the keys were out.
Being a complete retard i left it overnight and the battery was flat the next day. I took the battery out and tried starting it with the battery from my brothers kit car however the battery light remains on and with the key set to II the eml is flashing. The car turns over but will not start. Looked online and this pointed to immobilizer which can reset if the battery is drained completely and that i now need to get it plugged into a computer by vauxhall?

Can anyone confirm what has happened and what to do next? Any help is much much appreciated

Cheers
Tim

It has an aftermarket alarm - meta system m9601 - could this be at fault into tripping the immobiliser?

Quite possible does it splice onto the cars original harness or is it on a separate wiring loom

I have no idea as it was there when i bought the thing. Dunno where the brain is even, will have a looksy and see. Thought this was going to be a moderately easy alternator change, turning into a nightmare!

I would recheck your alternator connections check if any fuses have blown and the ring around the barrel just incase that has moved away at anytime

Okay mate thanks, will do tomorrow when i have light again. Any ideas why the battery warning light would remain on even when the new battery with full charge is connected? (When i connect it the light is on in the dash before ignition) :-?

Mind serves me my mate set a power serge on my almera when he welded it so possible some type of wrong connection could have caused it or if it was negative earthed somewhere possibly
