Corsa 1.0 non start, not firing

Hi Guys, I have a little or major problem with a Corsa.

My brother got this Corsa and he changed the cylinder head as other one was warped. Before at times it did have a lil trouble starting. I have checked the timing over and it is spot on, even the cam angle disc.
I do not hear the fuel pump prime when the ignition is switched on, the only way to get it to make that priming noise is to go to the purple relay behind the glovebox and bridge two of the pins, red and red/blue.
It previously did start, but was misfiring, but when tried again, bugger all. The time it started before, the cat converter after about 5 mins was glowing orange. This made me believe one of the sparks were not firing.

It has brand new spark plugs, and brand new coilpack. I don't appear to be getting any voltage from the crank position sensor, when ignition on or cranking. The camshaft sensor is getting voltage to it.

cam sensor = 2.99 k ohms and 5.09 k ohms, 5 volts

I do not think it is the immobiliser as it is not making the dash light flash. it is just on constant.

Annoyingly I cannot do the fault code "paper clip" test as it is a W reg 1.0 12 valve and the pin seems to be removed from the fuseblock.

I am running out of ideas badly now, baffled as to why I cannot get any sparks. Even took the coilpack off and checked the terminals on the connector. Only one pin produced battery voltage as in 12 volts. Even charging the battery did nothing. The other terminals are not putting out anything. :(

Will it fire when you bridge the relay? And you need to check why the relay isnt bridgeing itself, relay could be a dud

After that easiest way to check for sparks is to make some diy HT leads, you do this by basiclly getting a HT lead bear the wire and shove it into the coilpack and plug your spark plug into the diy ht lead and crank the car to see if the plug gives a bright blue spark

Id give it a try again today, I did fit a brand new relay as well.

You will need to check wiring to relay then if its a new relay, gm relay or generic? Shouldnt.matter but gm relays have a rep of not breaking very often

Theres also a valve on the rail to see if its priming

I did try and start it again today. I heard the relay clicking, and it sounded as though it had fire, but then it stopped. After repeated attempts, relay never clicked again. Did the bridging of relay to make pump work, but it did not fire. I even connected the test lights at the end of the HT leads, and not one of them had flash :(

Im wondering if the loom is gone or the ECU itself.

When the ignition is turned on, is the fuel pump meant to make the priming noise as I do not hear anything. I would check tomorrow the bleed screw to see if it makes fuel run out by just turning the ignition on.

You might need to take the car to vauxhall and get them to diagnose the problem

ouch, it isn't exactly driveable either :( think I may take a crack at the ECU

I did also check all the relays and all appear to be working. When connecting voltage between pins 85 and 86 you would hear the relay energise clicking.

Without any voltage I connect the ohmmeter to pins 30 and 87 which it showed infinity, therefore open circuit.
With the battery volatage at pins 85 and 86. Connecting the ohmmeter to 30 and 87 it showed 0.06 ohms near enough zero which it should be, which means continuity.

I had order a new ECU on ebay with key and transponder, it should come today hopefully.

My final tests had conclude the following results.

IGNITION OFF
Fuel Injection system relay
pin 30 = 12v
pin 86 = 12v
pin 85 = 12v
pin 87 = 0v

Fuel pump relay
pin 30 = 12v
pin 86 = 0v
pin 85 = 0v
pin 87 = 0v

IGNITION ON
Fuel Injection system relay
pin 30 = 12v
pin 86 = 12v
pin 85 = 1.03v
pin 87 = 12v

Fuel pump relay
pin 30 = 12v
pin 86 = 12v
pin 85 = 12v
pin 87 = 0v

I fitted a ECU with transponder and still not working.

Last, last resort is I have ordered a crankshaft position sensor, if this does not work. Then the car gets scrapped. Cant be wasting anymore money on this.

Knew it wasnt the ecu tbh, have you checked for pressure at the rail? Are plugs wet.after cranking? Its a fuel or spark problem, crank and camshaft semsors do throw the spark somtimes

I HAVE IT STARTED - WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It was the......... crankshaft position sensor. Should have known something was up with the old one as the body was swollen and tough for it to remove, new one slotted in with ease. Plus the old one was cracked by the body of the magnet.
:)
