Cambelt kits
I need to change the cambelt as i know it hasnt been changed in the past 5 years due to the car being garaged, but the kits ive seen dont come with pretensioners so i rang up the vauxhall garage and they stock the cambelt and pretensioner kits but theyre £68 and dont come with a water pump, would i really need to change the water pump to or ? As every bit of rubber etc on the car is still in perfect condition but to be safe im changing the cam but i recon the water pump should be alright, what do you guys think ?

Re: Cambelt kits
Changing the waterpump is a mixed topic from mechanics some will change it every time they change a belt or even strip the engine
I tend to not bother mainly because it's what the guy who thought me did lol but if you ask 50 mechanics chances are 25 would say change it and 25 would say not to,
So you just have to make a judgement call, take your first instinct and stick to it basically
Cambelt should be changed at regular intervals aswell, 5 years is far to long for something so vital to the engine

If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Re: Cambelt kits
it had been sat in a garage not moved as the old bloke who owned it was really badly ill and went into a home so he just left it there looking brand now no corrosion on the car
