New EGR Valve, Engine light still on. Temp running High

Hi
First post here, frequent browser through the help on here though.
Well, lets start,
I started getting the P1405 fault, incorrect feedback signal, over a year ago. I had the valve replaced today, and the light is still coming on (It was reset after the new valve installed) it ran fine, until i started the car again after leaving the garage, when the light came back on.
Is replacing the valve for this the normal fix, or did i go the wrong way about this? If so, what else can i try to stop the light coming back on?
Also, since the new valve was fitted, the engine is running at a higher temp, is this normal? It usually sat closer to the 90 degree mark, but now it sits near 95, and doesnt drop,, even when travelling on the motor way.
Its a 1998 S reg B type 1 liter Corsa.
Cheers for any replies/help
