clutch replacement

Hi guys, i have investigated the forum and can't seem to find a guide on changing a clutch on my corsa breeze b 1997 so i do apoogise if it has been answered. If it has been answered, for the moderators, please feel free to move this question or put the link to that topic.
If it hasn't, i'm looking to change over the clutch due to the clutch bearing making a wining/grinding noise when clutch pressed down. I thought i might as well do the clutch as well since i need everything off to get access to it anyway. here is my question, has anyone got a guide with pics? Is my car the one that i have to remove the gearbox to access the clutch? I do not have a tool to disengage the input shaft from the clutch so would i have to take gearbox out anyway?
I have found a guide to filling up the gearbox once open but what fluid goes in? is it a gearbox oil or can any oil go in?

thanks in advance for all you help guys?

I can't find a guide but once the gearbox is off you'll see what to do straight away, I can't remember step by step what to do but I remember it's easy but I'll keep searching for a guide

It has to be gearbox oil, normal oil doesn't get hot enough or gets too hot

That's the best I can do for a guide

Gearbox just bolts off and after a wiggle to break the seal it'll pull away

Hi jonny

I have got myself into a little bit of bother, is there any chance you could also post on here the method for removing the gearbox too. There is one bolt i have tried every one of my tools to get to but cant seem to get to it. Just want to make sure i have gone through it logially and want to know if i have followed the correct steps in order to remove the gearbox.

thanks again jonny

Can you post a picture of the bolt? I can get the removal procedures but it goes into alot of detail that isn't needed

my gf will have the car back this evening, will get a picture of it tonight if i can. I had removed the the gearbox end plate. then take a pin out and unscrew the torx bolt.
The bolt im talking about is from behind the engine, on the firewall side, to remove the gearbox for bell housing. will try and get a pic and show you.

thanks

The pics are not very good. Its hard to get a pic of it coz i put the end plate back together.
I have had to crop pics coz of size. The bolts you can see are the gear box bolts from top. I van get good pic of the ones on the other end (cabin side) but those are the ones im talking about. I hve ordered an adjustable end socket and hopefully det it off that way.

Either way, if possible and you have the time, i could do with the step by step of how to take off gearbox.

Once i start again, will make sure i take pics for everyone.

Thanks for your help jonny. Appreciate it and for me, every penny counts

Hi jonny
Was wondering why my pics were not getting uploaded, its because they are in jpg format and website will not let me put them in that format. Not sure how to go about sending you the pics.

Hopefully you will have some sort of idea of what im talking about

Hey guys.

Jonny, update for you. I have managed to get the bolt off. I have talen pics but getting an error downloading tapatalk on my mobile. I will try and explain.

I am trying to take the gearbox and bell housing all in one. Is this possible? I do not know how to take the gearbox off. I have tried everything and it will not budge. I have managed to tilt bell housing off a little but gearbox is in the way of me getting access to the clutch.

I would like some ideas. I have taken off the gear linkage system and the stater motor and all the relevant bolts. I have not removed the inout shaft coz i have no idea. I thought taking off gearbox end plate would give me access removing input shaft but there is nothing there.

Any help would be appreciated coz it seems like i will have to fork out money i dont have to take to garage.

Ps-after opening gearbox, there was some oil leakage. How do i top the gearbox lubricant up? Where do i do it?

Thanks guys
