Corsa B 99 Idle Help

Hi Guys

I have a 1L 99 Model corsa B, and when I purchased the car, it was idling so low, it would cut out if i took my foot of the accelerator. so I looked up a guide on your forums, showing me how to sort this issue out. I took the idle control valve off, and all the pipes of the engine and gave them all a good clean, then when I put everything back together the car has started idling to fast. it now idles so fast it can drive itself.

However, when I first start the car in the morning, it will idle really low, then after 5 mins of driving it will gradually go up, until its idling stupidly high.

When I cleaned everything, I also disconnected the battery for an hour as suggested to reset the ECU.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks
Daniel Bell

I'd say the first culprit to look at is the ICV(Idle Control Valve) or some places call it an Idle Stepper Motor.

Hi Blackie

I have taken off and cleaned the idle control valve, as mentioned on these forums.

Is there any way I can test if the issue is being caused by the idle control valve.

Thanks
Dan

If you can get the hold of someone who's 1.0 corsa is running fine and swap it over for a few mins

Did you oil it after you cleaned it?

No Im the only person I know with one, and yes it was oiled mate.

it seems to work better when I disconnect it from the ECU lol = 0

Hi guys

The EML is on, do you think it would be worth doing the paperclip test to try and find the issue,

Thanks
Dan

Scrap that

apparently I cannot do the paperclip test on the 1L 1999 model.

Your timing could be out mate

Iirc the 99 1.0 is the 3cyl chain driven lump so unlikely to be timing, not unless in the unlikely event it has skipped a tooth. If the HG has been done recently then I guess the chain may have been put on with incorrect timing, but it would have to be a moron to have done that.

ICV, vacuum hoses, TPS, dirt in throttle body holding butterfly valve open, butterfly valve broken, ECU,

I don't beleive that disconnecting the batery on these resets the ECU. You need to reset the ICV using OpCom or something similar.

Works on 8v models but not ecotec models
