I have been having a root around the interweb this morning, looking at or for forums that I have been a member on since being into the car scene

So...

Uniq Styling - forum long gone.
Midlands Car Club - no results in google, cannot remember forum url - was not very active when I last visited.
X2C - Forum gone.
Cleaned UK - Forum Gone
Fast Car Central - Forum Long gone - last time I looked the website had been repurposed as a retail site.
UK-Mods Forum Gone

Corsa-b.co.uk still going strong
Corsasport hard to keep up with posts it so active
thecorsa.co.uk busy forum I pop on every now and then
Automotive connection Still going due to a number of 10-15 active members

The more local clubs, and the modified clubs have died on their A*se.

Is this all down to social networking/the power of facebook? Are people just generally not interested any more? Is it worth having forums any more? Thoughts?

Local forums generally never last purely because they can't get the userbase and it's not worth paying hundreds to a host for a site that doesn't get traffic,

Think it comes down to shows aswell, when you put so much effort into a car and then come show time your sent to the corner where your car gets covered in mud and no-one sees it so the logical thing to do is join a bigger club

Small forums aswell tend to end up with a bunch of mates and it then seems intimidating to New members

Nearly all forums are integrated with fb and Twitter so I don't think it has anything to do with social media but no doubt the fb groups are doing some harm

Corsasport is probably doing this site the most harm but there's not as many b's on there as there used to be either

And I think the only corsa on thecorsa is Vegas's 5 door beast

I agree with johnny but think social sites just have idiots slating cars where as forums have like minded people that are there for basically same reasons

Yeah the time total Vauxhall shared a pic of Vegas's car and the whole of Facebook land got together to say it had 5doors so was crap

I dare anyone to read his build thread and say it's a crap Car

That's the problem with facebook I have the same

post my car onto a forum and everyone says how stunning it is and to go down a rought that they think would suit my car yet pop a picture onto facebook and I end up with a 100 comments later with pure arguments and bitching that my car is crap and why do I put a BB Bonnet with morettes its not a good combo

facebook will kill the car scene and you will end up with so many same groups of mates that will goin to slate and attack other groups and it will be a never ending battle

The thing is they say that dan and most probably dont drive or own a car or dont know the first thing about modding and if they went to a show and saw it bet they would take pics of it and say the opposite

Agree with this, I only use fb for buying and selling, and think Car specific forums will outlast social media
