Hi, got a problem, had to smash a window in my car to get the keys that i stupidly locked into the car today.....
Anyways, gonna go to the scrappy tomorrow morning and so need to know desperatley how to go about getting the window out in one piece of a car in the scrappy, and putting it into my car.
Its a 3-door K-reg corsa. If that helps
Also how much would you say, on average, it will cost......???
Cheers
Adam

Fcuk about! Smashing glass is always a last resort and usually not needed!
Did you try and get access to the lock mechanism by pulling out the window rubber? You can normally knock it back fairly easily using a thin rigid lever... like a numberplate! lol. Even with deadlocks, a long screwdriver can lever it off.
Had an RAC guy out to a delocked/handled/dead batteried Corsa today - exactly how he got in... within 2 minutes
Hopefully you\'ve only smashed the side glass - get a replacement from a scrappy, £20-30. Take off all the door card and you\'ll see how the window attaches to the mechanism. Never had to do it myself, but a Haynes manual will give you all the gen.

ok guys think he doesnt need a lecture!
anyways, like joff said, should be all easy enough. havent had it out myself, butshould be a piece of piss, take your door card off before you go scrappy to give you an idea of what you are up against, good luck matey
ps idve thought £20-30 as well, have u given insurence co a ring you might be covered if u say the window was smashed and you dunno how?

Most policies would have something re. windscreens, but side glass would come out of your excess so you\'d be worse off if you made a claim!

yeah wasnt sure if side windows were covered, ive claimed for 3 windscreens- think its the coilovers, too stiff and causing stress on front screen

The tennis ball idea is a load of bollox from what i\'ve heard. Theres no possible way it can work cos it may create a nice seal on the outside but theres no way of sealing the inside. Also creasing the door isn\'t a good idea as it damages it. Just use a coathanger, or get a spare set of keys made up.

Well ive got the haynes manual for my corsa....(for some reason they made a seperate one just for the 93 model corsa.....probs cos its a bag of poo!
So ill probs just skim through that tomorrow morning. Im not the best person with my hands, but it cant be too hard..... just dont wanna get to the scrappy and find i aint brought all the right tools!!
As for the tennis ball trick, it doesnt work.....we\'ve tried it on numerous occasions, and never worked. The coathanger trick works a treat. Although there were a few small problems. One i didnt have a coathanger, two i dont have a spare set of keys and three i was miles away from home and so had no option but to smash it.
Cheers to all those who tried to help!

ive never believd the tennis ball thing would work, i could understand the theory behind it, but the locks would have to be piss weak
i was only giving ya possible brake in ideas and the door can be bent back into shape easilly enough!
but then when it cracks your paint you have to fork out £150-200 for a respray.
how exactly did you manage to lock the keys in? the drivers door doesnt let you lock it then close it, it unlocks its self or at least mine does.

push the lock down....when u shut the door keep the handle pulled up. Its a bad habit ive got into cos im too lazy to keep the keys in my hand after turning the engine of and locking it properly.
