Corsa B Fuel Problem, Need Advice!

Hi guys, this is my first post and I'm in need of some advice.

I bought a Vauxhall Corsa B 1.2 SXI 16v over a month ago and it was neglected and abused by your average boy racer. :meh:

The story.

I was on the bypass reaching up to 70 when the car completely died and had no power, I assumed it was the petrol pump as there was no petrol going to the front end of the car (Not firing).
I then checked the fuses and the 'FI' - Fuel Injection 20AMP fuse had blown. So I put another fuse in and it was fine, I then drove it again and it blew another 3-4 times.
So after it blew around 5 fuses I decided it was time for a fuel pump. I went to my local scrap yard and got a new pump and float, got home, inserted the new pump and float and the fuse went half way along the street.
I then jacked the rear end of the car up and noticed that the fuel pump wires that come from under the car were leaning against the exhaust so the live wire was shortening out on the metal.
After I noticed that I stripped and re-wrapped the wires as it was melted and secured it to the car where its meant to be (Problem solved)

Continued..

After the car was driving normally as it should also blowing no fuses it then started playing up again. I noticed that when I went round a roundabout the car would die for around a second and as I straightened up it was like the car was catching the petrol and continuing. So I then put £10 of petrol in having around a quarter of a tank and I was fine? As if it was starved of petrol. I then remembered that when putting the new fuel pump in it wasn't secured down in the clips, it was left hanging inside the tank so I went back inside and secured it down as it should be and took it for another drive, around roundabouts and it was perfect! Which left me thinking it was swinging inside the tank and sometimes getting to such an angle its sucking no petrol. But now as I'm driving along the road it is like it is running out of petrol, even though I have petrol in the car and the red petrol light isn't even on. When accelerating its like touching the brake instead of the accelerator? Like the car is struggling? So I put £20 petrol in the car and its back to being perfect? I would like petrol to get low without the car stuttering as it is because it cant be good for it, any ideas/solutions? Sorry for the bible of a story but I'm thinking myself I should just switch to my old fuel pump and float since it was no problems in the first place. Thanks! :D

Sounds like it may be a pressure issue

Thanks for the reply.

I also changed the fuel filter but before I took the old filter out I pressed in the fuel pressure valve? Don't know if that will have any effect on it now but it idles and revs just fine. It's only when I'm driving.
