I've recently bought a 3D corsa b 1.6 16v sport n need help on how to get the best out of it. Ive just had a Mantzel inlet manifold/ powerbox fitted n need help on what's best to do next etc. Had 120mph out of it in 5th @ 6k rpm, was hoping for more out of a 1.6 tbh.

What kind of power/speed you looking for? Got a budget or money no object?

As much as possible aha. Don't rly have a budget I just decide if its too expensive or not when I come across it. Wud be nice to outrun saxo's tbh. But they rev 1k higher n weigh alot less.

They only weigh alot less because there rotted through
The 1.6 is highly tunable and can reach silly power(300hp if your willing to spend thousands)
A good exhaust and manifold (4-2-1 or 4-1 decat) will unleash the power from the power box, the limiter can be raised to 7.5k aswell which works best with a cam and omega pistons, gives alot more top end power
There's also the option of boring the block out with bigger pistons
Get the head port and polished because it'll be a fair help
Then there's forced induction, dbilas sell a complete turbo kit for 3 or 4 grand, sounds dear but big power doesn't come much cheaper
Exhaust and raised limit should be first, then port and polish, then cam and pistons then forced induction, price it up and see where you want to stop
On a sidenote I've between vts saxos in corsa sports so try perfect your driving style aswell

The saxo is 10kg lighter and 10hp more so if your racing a fat f**k you'll be faster

I used to beat saxo vtrs in my old 1.4 almera
never rated the saxos tbh

Not gonna go turbo, far too expensive for me. For 4grand I cud nrly get a vxr or ek9.
A 4-2-1 exhaust manifold is Sumet I want for sure but cannot find one anywhere ? All I can find is the 4-1 manifolds n they sit rly low (17mm) off the ground ? Plus I was told 4-2-1 is better low n mid range torque which is more suited for road use. As for the cat I was thinking gets a sports one instead of having decat coz cba swapping for mot, but if decat will make a noticeable difference il go decat?
I was also told to get a fuel pressure regulator, wots ur thoughts on that? N wud a chip help at all?

An ek9 won't outrun a turbo corsa sport though
I think sportex sell 4-2-1 manifolds, I've always preferred the 4-1 but there's only slight differences between them
Cat wise for everyday use a sport cat is better but to make the exhaust work best and least restrictive a decat is best
Fpr won't really do anything without a turbo or standalone management
A chip will just raise the Rev limit to 7.5k so yeah

Rly ?!? 0_0 ek9's keep up with 2.0L ep3 civics!? f**k me wot figures r we talking with a turbo on a 1.6 corsa ?
I can only seem to find 4-1 sportex manifolds. Cud u post a link to a 4-2-1 plz ?
For the cat I think it depends on the fuel consumption, is it gonna be rly thirsty with decat?
I was under the impression the ECU only needed to be changed to standalone or piggy back when coping with above 200bph. Can it only cope with a certain psi of fuel pressure then? N wot wud I be needing to pay for standalone, thousands I imagine ?:/
N wot sorta chip we talkin here, coz I've seen power chips on eBay for £10 n they claim to add 15bhp. But to me that seems too gd to be true. Some ppl say they work well, some say they don't add power but neutralise flat spots n others say they don't work at all?

N wot wud I be needing to pay for standalone, thousands I imagine ?:/ definitely thousands, the standard ecu like many standard ecus don't cope well by just turning up the fueling, they just run rich, it was different 20 years ago before ecus were really introduced

A proper map chip is what's needed

In fairness alot fall for the same trick with getting that much power from spending a tenner tbh
exhaust wrapping, uprating the injectors , not sure if u can methanol injection (if turbo is added) can work on these engines, cams, racing fly wheel port polishing, bike carbs these are just a few mods that will improve performance and power

Yeah and it'll only cost 50p to make them, sell a thousand and your laughing
and it's so cheap that you'll sell ten's of thousands to people looking for cheap power(which doesn't exist btw)
I forgot to mention bike carbs, but these engines are so tunable that about any mod you can think is possible with it

If I put a turbo kit on wud I have to change cams/shafts n valves n pistons etc? Wud a turbo not kill a little engine like that otherwise ?
A local firm called 'P&P Tuning' quoted me £250-£300 to make me a stainless steel 4-2-1 manifold if that's a decent price ?
N VolksWorld told me there's no point chipping or remapping a none turbo car. But how true that is I have no idea, I'm no mechanic lol.

Wud a turbo not kill a little engine like that otherwise ? depends on the psi you want to run, you can run it stock with a medium amount of boost and it won't pop, it's only if you want like 300+hp that you need all that

yes and no, there's no point in mapping a non turbo because theres nothing really to gain big, but your only looking to raise the Rev limit from 6 to 7.5 so it's not a map as such
