Hello, Guys im looking for some help, it started out with the car not starting when the engine is hot , say 20 mins driving (98 1l opel corsa 57000 mls)but now the engine cuts out under braking and wont restart until it cools down 20-30 mins, I replaced the lambda sensor today and it made no difference, I could really do with some advice on a diagnosis, unfortunately i am living on the west coast of Ireland and good mechanics are few and far between so any help would be greatly welcomed.

Does the eml come on at any time? When was it last serviced? Does it splutter or cough before cutting out or is it just a straight dead?

A thousand apologies Sir, I had a full service about 2.5k ago, no lights come on until it stops, when its running its grand, haha its all good until it goes wrong, it gives a cough ok when driving

Ah Donegal, im in Clare, i should have said the Wheest Coast

Maybe try a new coolant temp sensor, failing that try a crankshaft sensor, both explain the symptoms and don't throw a code

There both cheap sensors anyway so worth a punt

so ive been told that i might get away with cleaning an air flow sensor ? I havent a clue really, if i hadnt inherited the car id leave it, but over the last 9 months or so its grown on me

The air flow meter will throw a code though, and they generally don't cause a car to cut out, just run rough

I would say it's your coolant temp sensor
