corsa b engine change

well hi , i have a corsa b 1.2 , 1994 and i would like to know how hard it is to put in a 2.0lt 16v engine and ecu . from a wreg astra.has anyone done this ? any help appreciate

The engine transplant is not that hard it's the wiring as you will need to fit the transponder
But you be able to find out how
Parts will need to be modified
All the parts can be got from ebay owners site lmf vauxhall

if your meticulous and label all the wires as you unplug them and take your time its really not hard to do a redtop, it always helps to have helpl from someone and make sure you've got a semi decent tool kit. as far as wiring goes if you get a really early one if theres any left then you wont have the immobiliser to worry about, that's how I did my first one, I took it off the road on Friday afternoon and it was out as a redtop for sunday night and that was 3 of us. To make it last try and add some strengthening beams so the underside doesn't bend with the extra power or if your on a budget a front, rear and undersid strut brace should do it. its just fiddly things like getting clutch set up properly but its really not difficult if you take your time and just go for it, don't try and cut corners either because it will only come back and bite you when your not expecting it. you need to make sure the engine is good so only use it if you've drove it in the donor car and put it through its paces, even though the owner is there you need to drive it like you intend to drive it, he wont mind if its a goodun. you'll have little bits to do along the way you may not of anticipated but its all part of the fun, the good thing about doing your own redtop is that because you've built it, it truly is yours but also you know how to fix it if it goes wrong. I would suggest getting a decent ali radiator and some twin fans, just improves reliability. Make sure a redtop is what you want, some do blow up and have generally been ragged. Ive now got a 1.6 16v lump from corsa gsi in mine running VX performance cams, superchip ecu, diablous vernier pullies, race tube and power box, 1.0 flat lightened flywheel, 1.0 box and v6 brakes and that will leave a redtop standing no worries, if you treat it right itll normally be ok but keep it serviced and before you buy it check for things like leaks or smoke, have a look at the sump, some people may fix a little leak with quick steel if their sly.
