Seats

Post by Deedee91 »

I'm bored of my mk3 Gsi astra seats and I feel they're a bit big in the car as I'm quite tall myself so it's getting uncomfortable.
Ideas for new reasonably cheap seats? I Want something that's a straight swap.. Will corsa c fit?

Corsa c seats fit I think, but there all kinda crap, even the half leather looks and feels cheap, corsa sport/sxi seats are the best tbh, just enough bucket to keep you in place and it's not a bad looking design either, failing that calibra leathers are the best looking but then you need to get the door cards re covered
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Yeah i was gonna avoid the calibra as they're full leather and its a bit cold unless you set it up heated. Wouldn't mind half leather. The c does look particularly cheap n nasty I would agree. Okay so sports it is then now to find some in good nick. Thanks

If you find a cheap set there worth buying and getting re-foamed, the foam always wears on the door side and your left being able to feel the metal bar

I was quoted 100 for all seats re trimed in black with blackly grey suede centers and the fronts re foamed so it's worth pricing

Is that a price for all 5 seats?? That's pretty good value really. I've got a friend that's an auto trimmer that owes me a favour lol might get a battered pair refurb the frames and get them refoamed. One of the things that's put me off the sport is their coverings so I'll be happy then

Yeah all seats re trimed but only the fronts re foamed, the rear bench shouldn't need re foamed

It's fake suede or suede blend so it was cheaper

Ahh right. I would be wary of the fake suede though if it's the one I'm thinking of, the real stuff is called alcantara in the trimming world the lad I would be going to Chris has warned me about it before and said its just not as hard wearing as real alcantara so can be false economy when replacing it. S'pose if you threw some seat covers on most of the time you would prolong its life.

What would you say is reasonable for a set of seats? I don't think I would pay more than 50 for a set of seats for the car if I was getting them re-trimmed

It's not fake it's a suede blend  the upholster explained it better  alcantra is the dear stuff just, it's standard in porches and the like, the stuff Im getting is sort of vinyl based suede and something blend, it'll be very hard wearing according to my local upholster

I'd only be looking to spend around 20-30 quid tbh but you'd need to get a rough quote from an upholster and work out what you want/can pay

Oh right I'll pop in and mention that next week when I'm down at my dads unit and see if he has a sample of something similar. I didn't think I would get some that cheap ha. I'll have to start hunting now. Thanks for the advice much appreciated
