Things to increase power

Post by corsakid97 »

Hi guys I am looking to upgrade my 1.2 16v vauxhall corsa b and I was wondering what I can do to increase the bhp of the car that doesn't cost race car money also what is the best way to fit bucket seats to the car?
Cheers for any help

Bigger engine sadly is the only real way to get a proper gain in power without spending a sh*t tonne of money.

A good exhaust system, cat back or de cat if your local exhaust shop can do manifolds set you back 100 quid, more if your going custom mani, but the real power comes from a good mani

A good intake would be good aswell, not just a cone filter either dbilis will sell you a brilliant Free flow intake for sub 500 quid

A chip to raise the Rev limiter aswell would see you somewhere in the 80-110 brake range, along with some weight reduction and good shocks and brakes, you'll have a vtec killer, it'll cost a 1000-1500 but That's not race car money, not decent race car money anyway
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Sportex cat back is loud and will free up some top end but it'll be a 1-5 hp increase and all will only be available after 4200 rpm, it's the system I have on mine, it's not going too give that increase in power your after, you'll need intake and exhaust manifolds

Never fitted bucket seats but my cousin had a set in a 2door B and had standard corsa rails bolted to them.

As said before the exhaust manifold will need to be custom

And I got the price of there cams and intake mixed up, the intake is just sub 1000, but that alone moves you up to 90bhp which is corsa sport power

1000quid just to get up to 90bhp seems crazy to me. For that money you would get a good powerful stock engine that isnt being pushed to its limits and have plenty of change ?

It's always been and probably always will be cheaper to buy instead of build

But that's why "normal" people call us car nuts, we choose to spend more to make our slow cars fast and fast cars faster

Like the m3 for example has everything a car nut wants in a car and yet we will still spend money making it better

It comes down to whether you want to buy a fast car and be contempt or buy a slow/fast car and spend 10x what it's worth to make faster than your wanna be's in there stock fast cars

If you had the money surely you'd want a 1.2 corsa that could blow type r civics off the road? I think anyone that wouldn't. Is mad

I do agree 100% but i think a 1.6 or 2lt is a better starting point.

If you want good upgrades for the 1.2 then turbo the arse out of it..!! Upgrade internals and run it on .8 bar, with the mods Johnny said & this you would hammer any boy racer [emoji14]

Also strip the car down to bare essentials for added weight reduction.

Lightened flywheel.

Throttle bodies.

All the mods i want but dont have the balls or cash haha.

Cheers Johnny for the link and cheers for comments guys. Turboing it did go through my mind but didn't know what I would have to upgrade I am guessing the pistons valves etc. I would love to have a 1.2 corsa that could beat any boy racer it would be the ultimate sleeper lol. I have just ordered some nice mud flaps for the car which will look nice and getting some gauges aswell. What sports/bucket seat do you guys recommend for me to get that look slightly more standard than racking buckets?

My 1.2 16V X12Xe on my 30min drive to and from work in my last job, i used to overtake BMW's, Golfs, Honda's, etc

Bare in mind they were probably just sitting doing a steady speed, but always felt good over taking them lol

I kept my engine stock, but totaly striped it down and rebuilt clean as a whistle. i wanted to know i had an engine that was Internally Sound, instead of bolting bits onto it to try and make it go faster.

Id agree, if i wanted more power, i wouldnt want to spend the money on a 1.2 id much rather buy a 1.6 or 2.0 and again strip it down and rebuild it nice and clean.

But then i dont havea garage and cant be arsed with the insurance. my Corsa gets me to A to B.

For mine i wanted my car to look subtle like a GSI Rep, i wanted it to look like a modern 2000/2015 car even tho its a 1999
