EGR blanking

I took up the EGR valve off my 2000 1.2i 16v and gave it a clean and then replaced with new gasket. This was just out of curiosity as the throttle body was pretty filthy and I was wondering why.

I have not had any EML lights of performance problems. However, it can not help the system sending all this muck back into the engine. I am keen to simply blank off the EGR recycle pipe with a blank flange.

Has anyone had a go at this with any success. It is a 15 minute job, but don't want to send the computers haywire!

You can buy the plates off eBay and it's a 15 min job as you said

You might get the eml flashing on from time to time but blanking the egr only makes the engine run cleaner

Not with the 1.0 or 1.2, coolant runs through it so it has to stay
