Auto Corsa B Power Loss / Jerking

Hi all,

My mum's automatic 1999 Corsa B is suffering from a power loss when you put your foot down - it feels as if you're putting your foot on the accelerator then taking it off, then putting it back on again - all in the space of a second. The engine light also comes on intermittently.

The problem comes and goes - sometimes when the car is in neutral and sometimes when moving, at various speeds. Then there'll be no problem for a while.

It sounds a little similar to the problem liopik posted about at the end of July.

Any suggestions as to what the problem might be would be much appreciated!
