To transplant a 1.6 16v into a 1.2 8v (93) would the engine mounts need movgin, modifying? As one garage told me they would but never heard that before....

What car are you talking about?

Do you mean remove a 1.6 16v and replace it with a 1.8 8v? Or remove the 1.8 and swap it for a 1.6?

Aaah.. lol. Makes more sense :D

The only mount that would need changing would be the bodywork mount.
Yours will have this mount:

And the new engine needs this one:

If you don\'t have Power steering the use the mounts you have holding the 1.2 in place. the donor engine more than likely will have a PAS pump on it. Remove the pump and get a alt belt from a non PAS corsa 16v and make up a adjustable mount on th eotp of the alt to hold the belt tight.

1) Take of the power steering pump
2)Buy a Alt belt for a non-power steering corsa with a 1.4/1.6 16v engine
3) Make the mount that holds the top of the alt adjustable so you can tension the belt
