Spent the afternoon with the cars doing bits and bobs, nothing major.

Oil cooler in place on the nova, still need to sort out the mountings for it, but all connected up.
Image
Can see it\'s a tight fit down there
Image

New oil pressure/temp gauge in to, hard to get the camera to get the pic right, but you get the idea Need to put the dash back in properly now
Image

The new passanger seat is now positioned, but not in firmly, I\'m trying to get it as far back and low as possible to try to make use of the extra ballast/passanger, Dan\'s 5,10\" to give an idea how low it is:
Image

Fitted the new Air temp sensor finally
Image

Don\'t think it will be done for trax though, too much to do and no enough time

Not been too rushed about things this weekend, thought\'d I\'d get round to putting the remander of the dash back in place to smarten things up a little.
Image

Made a start on replacing the sunroof with some ali sheet, a) to make the car lighter and b)to stop me being showered in glass should I manaeg to send it on it\'s roof.

removed the old sunroof leaving a nice big vent
Image

Marked out the rough outline using the old sunroof surround
Image

Then attacked the sheet with a big set of shears
Image

sheet being attacked
Image

Offered the trimmed sheet up, needs a little finishing and then time ot get the 3mm drill bit out and pop rivet the mofo in with some mastic to seal it on.
Image

As you can see this panel was kindley donated by somefields in wales.
Image

This ends another mincing thread, please tune in next week

Had the afternoon off, so thought\'s I\'d get round to finishing off the de-sunroofing and mount the bonnet pins finally as I\'ve been mincing a little.

No halfway shots asn I just wanted ot get on and do it, trimmed the panel to 1\" over on all sides and then spaced the rivets 1 1/2\" apart and about 1\" on the corners, Took ages to de-bur the panel and the roof then a little bit of RTV to keep the water out and then riveted it all in.
Image

inside shot:
Image

The bonnet pins were mounted to a plate aswell as the fibre glass skin, BigRuss recommended this to strengthen the mount:

Image

And finally, mounted the stainless plug cover, I just drilled out the mounting points in th emiddle with a 10mm then a 14mm bit as I couldn\'t be bother to cut it with a saw

Image

Can just see a refelction in it, just need a little brasso now to bring it up nicely (and re-paint the cover too a little chipped now  )

Image

Got the box section for the seat rails, just waiting for the machine shop to make the inserts for them, and then I can get the seats in and get it driving a bit again.

Got some more pics to upload and take, got the old seat rails cut out, and the new box section to be welded in place. Picking up the inserted the machien shop were making monday, and the steering boss arrived in th epost so I\'ll trial fit that and see ho wit all looks. Picking up my new brakes next week too, some GRP A rally rear brakes from a cossie, 280mm rotors x-drilled (although they are casted with th eholes so don\'t suffer the cracking iussues normally found on drilled disks) with AP calipers, will need a little modding, but will be rather tastey in the end.

Removed the std seat rails in preparation for the box section to be put in for the buckets, I was using a 12\" disk grinder so contorl wasn\'t all there, but it didn\'t take long, ears are still ringing now, managed ot go through to the outside world on the first on, so need to patch that when I put the rails in.

Image

My steering boss arrived in the post today so I could bolt it on to the snapp off boss I bought, jsut need to sork out what steering wheel Dish I want, seem to come out a fair old way, tried removing the std one, but wouldn\'t have any of it so I\'m goignto go and borrow a mates steering wheel puller.

Also popped to the scrappy this morning, and bought the plastic chin spoiler from the std run of the mill corsa B\'s to add a bit of depth to the nouva bumper, used a 3mm bit in the drill and was able to carve the slit needed using that and got it all in, needed to trim 1/2\" off each end to make it fit neatly.

Image

Here you can see th eblack tabs poking through at the back.
Image

Not heard that one before Sach, very funny

Today mincing, didn\'t do much, cause it\'s too hot,
Got hold of a steergin wheel puller from a friend, and got it off.
Image

Lookign at it sat in the seat, think I\'ll get a shallow dished wheel, but thr steering column need to come in abotu 1\" and down abotu 2\"

I\'m going to get a corsa UJ as the nova rubber one is a bit free

Will be getting the seat rails sorted during next week, then I\'m waiting on pay day for the new wheels, can\'t decide between MO\'s or pro race 1\'s :S

Also if you look in the top pic, you can see the engine sits a bit high on the left side, I\'ve had a 1/2\" plate made up to sit under the mount to lower it down a bit, this also helps lower the centre of gravity, although a negliadable amount it can\'t do any harm.
somebodies been busy! looks like your steering wheel will be stuck out a fair bit with the snap off on?
I think I\'m having a steergin wheel with a 70mm dish on top of the snap off boss, I\'m pretty far back and very low, so I\'m not too worried, I\'m goign to be dropping the steering wrack doen to meet me, the pedals arre th eonly bti not movable, so you work round them. gearstick mighthave an interesting kink in it soon

Adam- I\'ll get some pics of when I weld in the seat rails, basically, you cut out the std ones, and they go in across the sill to the exhuast tunnel, this increases the lateral stiffness of the shell, and means you can get the passanger ont eh floor and the dirver exactly where it needs to be, although i\'m sure I\'ll have a couple of holes of adjustment to let the girl friend driver it, and someone slightly shorter than me.

once the seats are back in I can at least drive it again, although I think i need to replace the bog end shell, as it\'s a bit clacky, so I\'m going to order some and slap some in blindly cause I\'ve got a new bottom end on the way. Also have a AP clutch to go in the new one, th elist is soo long, it\'s a toughy, think when I pull it down for the winter is when all th emajor goodies will go on it. In the mean time, Anyone want some solid top mounts?? Improve steering feel and precision no end, I\'m not using them as I\'m going to exectric ones when I get coil over.

Making abotu 140, but not been mapped yet, so couldn\'t really say, it\'s got a few bits odne to it apart form what you see bt nothing much.

Just picked up some GAZ coil over sus for it, and some OZ rally wheels for it, J7x15, let the arch bashign commence!!

Here\'s a pic of the new coilover frotn struts, got the solid top mounts to go woth them, but they need machining first :(
Image

Here\'s the OZ racing alloys, not very bling, but indestructable, and there\'s enough room for some 300mm brakes to hide behind them.

Had a busy sunday this weekend. Dan\'s corsa came up to steel my old sus, as it was going spare, So the new Gaz adjustable stuff is on the nova, and the twiddley knob makes mega differernces to th eboddy roll, but can\'t say how it drives yet, or for a few months :(

Rear Damper

Image

Image

sneaky wilwood shot, soon to be runnign 298mm rotors when I get round to it.
Image

And the random sparks flying shot, I was trimming the CV\'s on the corsa to allow the centre caps to go on.
Image
no pics of the car as it is cause the front is abotu 3\" too high and it looks lie it has no engine in at the mo.
