Spent the afternoon with the cars doing bits and bobs, nothing major.
Oil cooler in place on the nova, still need to sort out the mountings for it, but all connected up.
Can see it\'s a tight fit down there
New oil pressure/temp gauge in to, hard to get the camera to get the pic right, but you get the idea Need to put the dash back in properly now
The new passanger seat is now positioned, but not in firmly, I\'m trying to get it as far back and low as possible to try to make use of the extra ballast/passanger, Dan\'s 5,10\" to give an idea how low it is:
Fitted the new Air temp sensor finally
Don\'t think it will be done for trax though, too much to do and no enough time
Not been too rushed about things this weekend, thought\'d I\'d get round to putting the remander of the dash back in place to smarten things up a little.
Made a start on replacing the sunroof with some ali sheet, a) to make the car lighter and b)to stop me being showered in glass should I manaeg to send it on it\'s roof.
removed the old sunroof leaving a nice big vent
Marked out the rough outline using the old sunroof surround
Then attacked the sheet with a big set of shears
sheet being attacked
Offered the trimmed sheet up, needs a little finishing and then time ot get the 3mm drill bit out and pop rivet the mofo in with some mastic to seal it on.
As you can see this panel was kindley donated by somefields in wales.
This ends another mincing thread, please tune in next week
Had the afternoon off, so thought\'s I\'d get round to finishing off the de-sunroofing and mount the bonnet pins finally as I\'ve been mincing a little.
No halfway shots asn I just wanted ot get on and do it, trimmed the panel to 1\" over on all sides and then spaced the rivets 1 1/2\" apart and about 1\" on the corners, Took ages to de-bur the panel and the roof then a little bit of RTV to keep the water out and then riveted it all in.
inside shot:
The bonnet pins were mounted to a plate aswell as the fibre glass skin, BigRuss recommended this to strengthen the mount:
And finally, mounted the stainless plug cover, I just drilled out the mounting points in th emiddle with a 10mm then a 14mm bit as I couldn\'t be bother to cut it with a saw
Can just see a refelction in it, just need a little brasso now to bring it up nicely (and re-paint the cover too a little chipped now )
Got the box section for the seat rails, just waiting for the machine shop to make the inserts for them, and then I can get the seats in and get it driving a bit again.
Got some more pics to upload and take, got the old seat rails cut out, and the new box section to be welded in place. Picking up the inserted the machien shop were making monday, and the steering boss arrived in th epost so I\'ll trial fit that and see ho wit all looks. Picking up my new brakes next week too, some GRP A rally rear brakes from a cossie, 280mm rotors x-drilled (although they are casted with th eholes so don\'t suffer the cracking iussues normally found on drilled disks) with AP calipers, will need a little modding, but will be rather tastey in the end.
Removed the std seat rails in preparation for the box section to be put in for the buckets, I was using a 12\" disk grinder so contorl wasn\'t all there, but it didn\'t take long, ears are still ringing now, managed ot go through to the outside world on the first on, so need to patch that when I put the rails in.
My steering boss arrived in the post today so I could bolt it on to the snapp off boss I bought, jsut need to sork out what steering wheel Dish I want, seem to come out a fair old way, tried removing the std one, but wouldn\'t have any of it so I\'m goignto go and borrow a mates steering wheel puller.
on
off
Also popped to the scrappy this morning, and bought the plastic chin spoiler from the std run of the mill corsa B\'s to add a bit of depth to the nouva bumper, used a 3mm bit in the drill and was able to carve the slit needed using that and got it all in, needed to trim 1/2\" off each end to make it fit neatly.
Here you can see th eblack tabs poking through at the back.
Not heard that one before Sach, very funny
Today mincing, didn\'t do much, cause it\'s too hot,
Got hold of a steergin wheel puller from a friend, and got it off.
Lookign at it sat in the seat, think I\'ll get a shallow dished wheel, but thr steering column need to come in abotu 1\" and down abotu 2\"
I\'m going to get a corsa UJ as the nova rubber one is a bit free
Will be getting the seat rails sorted during next week, then I\'m waiting on pay day for the new wheels, can\'t decide between MO\'s or pro race 1\'s :S
