Hello everyone,
I have an envoy model and am wanting to know what would be the next step in upgrading the speaker set-up -I don\'t think I have any rear speakers. I just want a basic improvement. What can you suggest?
I don\'t want to go mad with ice but any help with speaker choice would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Spud.

If You\'re up to wiring them, 6x9\'s are a good upgrade, i had rear speakers though, but bought Alpine E-Type 6x9\'s, they\'re the doggies danglers. If not, upgrade the door speakers, they\'re components though.

6x9\'s offer fantastic quality for their price, however it\'s no good buying them if you want to add a sub box aswell because the two will interfere with each other.(ooh er)

Thanks for the info.

So, if I understand correctly, if I want to put a sub in the boot I will need an amp ?

Would this be better than 6x9\'s in the parcel shelf?

Cheers,

You will need a \"Low Pass Filter\" to make a sub work. This filter out all music except for bass notes, all amps come with this feature as standard.

The 6x9\'s on the parcel shelf are an all round compromise and offer great value for money.

A good setup to start with would be a sub and amp in the boot and good speakers in the standard places (no 6x9\'s), this should give an all round improvement in quality and volume.

With ICE you get what you pay for. If it\'s cheap then it\'s cheaply made.

In my opnion \"Infinity\" and \"Sony\" offer a good comprise between quality and cost.

This is just my opinion, but i built my first system 7 yrs ago and i have done at least one a year ever since.

Thanks for the info

I\'ve found on one website a sony package consisting of :-
1 x 10\" sub
1 x box
1 x amp
1 x wiring kit

for about £100. Is that too cheap?
I appreciate that as you suggest I would need a pair of parcel shelf speakers (non 6x9) to finish the job - sounds like if it\'s any good it\'s the sort of upgrade I\'m looking for :D
What d\'ya reckon?

That sounds to be a medium level system, and for the money is a good offer.
Don\'t put speakers on your parcel shelf, they\'ll sound crap as they will interfere with your sub.

Get some decent speakers for your doors.

Is the 3/4 panel the one in front of the seat or the one behind?

When a sub is used in the boot, should the parcel shelf be removed?

Cheers,
