Gear Linkage on my Diesel,can't get 5th

Hi all,I\'m seriously Peedoff! Just about to have mot.Have had probs with my gearlinkage.They\'re very loose.I can\'t disassemble it and sort it because I have a Diesel,and can\'t follow the Tutorial in hints and Tips.Basicaly,I can stick a drill-bit in me stickend but not on top of the gearbox.This plastic cover mentioned aint there.The Haynes Manual only tells you about the Petrol box.Here\'s my grief,I\'ve lost 5th gear.I have the update pin(spring) thats visible under the battery housing(suggestion from Vauxhall)and also the bit called \"Reverse Bar\",should be ok because its got new foam cushions on the ball joints.The previous owner was very heavy handed swaying the stick to and throw before engaging it.Its like a sugar spoon in a cereal bowl.Can anyone advice please.
