Ticking noise

Hi there, Im just after some advice for a ticking noise that seems to have developed from my SRi engine. I have checked the tappets which are fine, and it appears that the ticking is actually coming from the injection system, which I know little about.
Does any1 know what this is exactly and how I might go about sorting it out?

Injectors can be replaced, but possibly work looking at getting them ultrasonically cleaned.
Cleaning won\'t work if the injectors are faulty, which can possibly checked with a multimeter but not sure.

Cheers mate, how would I go about ultrasonic cleaning?
The tick is quite tempromental, it is sometmies significantly worse than others.
Over the next year I am looking to drop a 2ltr GTE lump in, so I am wandering whether any works of significant cost to the current SRi engine are worth while?

think i have the same problem with a slight ticking. But dunno what it\'s like lately - cars been sitting for a year

i have it and was told it was cam belt issues.

That ticking noise does it quieten down once the engine is warm?? if so its your lifters, they cost a bit aswell

My SRI has the exact same problem, I bought it yesterday for £250!
So I\'m expecting a couple things to go wrong with it, someone from MIG told me it was something to do with the water pump, although im sure it would have something to do with the valve operating system.
