starting doing that horrid squeecking noise, is it a easy ob to get rid of it or a mech\'s job

its pretty straight forward - all you have to do is loosen the nuts on the alternator and take up the slack and then re-tighten the nuts. A rough guide as to how tight it should be is you should just be able to twist the belt 90 degrees. Probably a good idea to check the condition of the belt while your at it.

is it a 5 min job as im supposed to be driving for thorpe park tomoro with a car ful of kids

well prob a bit more than 5mins but shouldn\'t take more than 30mins - it really is as simple as loosening the alternator bolts pushing it back to take up slack and then tightening it back up

Yeah it\'s an easy one.

Couple of bolts off, loosen, slide foreward, old belt off, new belt on, tigten, finished, admire whilst drinking tea.
