there\'s a kind of squeaking noise coming from around the alternator/cam-belt side of the engine (its def not the belt as its not a screeching sound More of a sort of dry bearing noise if you know what i mean) Last time i heard a similar noise was on my punto just before the cam-belt tensioner bearings exploded - do corsas have cam belt tentioners ?[/quote]

best i go and get one and replace it, luckily my punto has a \"fire\" engine so it wasn\'t affected when the belt came off, somehow i don\'t think i would be as lucky with my corsa

i had a little nasty noise like a sqeekin a lil while ago. it was where the seal between the manifold and the downpipe had worn away and it was just bare metal rubbin on metal.. if its that u\'ll be laughin cos it only cost me a fiver to fix it.

Most Vauxhall engines are an \"Interference\" design, hence if the belt snaps the engine is knackered.

I've had a similar problem. I thought it was the just the belt slipping but it turned out it was the bearing knackered on the alternator tensioner. Sweet again now.
