Hi there peeps!

I\'m still wanting to lower my car, but im not really wanting to pay much as im a tight arse mofo

I know i can have a cheap arse -40mm g-maxx spring kit for about £70, and not knack my shocks etc, but i really want a -60mm drop, just without the £100\'s it\'ll cost!

What im asking is, if i buy -60mm springs, or even just -50mm springs, how long will it be before my shocks knack up...? and also what adverse side affects (minus the bad ride, and multiple scraping) will i get?

Its just im only keeping the car until i start uni next year, and then i will most likely be getting shot of it, so not particularly bothered what it breaks, as long as it lasts for the 6 or 7months ill be driving it for! :D

My cars and L -reg Corsa Flair 1.4 8v......

Cheers peeps

Adam

well ive cut springs before for mates cars, wouldnt recommend it really, i reckon just a set of springs wont cause your dampers extreme death within months..... come to think of it none of my mates never had problems with theres.
ive done it on an orion an astra and an XR2

na i wouldn\'t either, i dont think the shocks would last for that long tbh, much better of with a full suspension kit even though its twice the price.

are you sure about your type of springs aswell, g-max aren\'t really that good tbh, go for eibach 50mm spings if you can stretch your budget a bit further, or if not spax aren\'t to bad, and quite reasonably priced. failing that look on ebay. you might find a cheap 60mm suspension kit on there if your lucky.

well funnilly enough, i went into halfords today and saw full spax suspension kits. prices were as follows....

206 full kit (including shocks dampeners etc) - £150.00, reduced to £75.00

VTR/VTS full kit - £200.00 (i think...)

Corsa/Nova full kit - £499.99 ....

....Whys it more expesnive for a car that is worth less, where as its cheaper for a car thats worth more...... I was sick, saw the first price and thought champion, cheap lowering for my car.....

I want a 206 now

it could depend on which spax kit it is, they have about 3 different suspension kits aswell as the spring kit, halfords are normaly rip of merchants unless they have something on special offers, some of the the ice they sell is double the price that it is if you buy it out of the ice ads in max power, fastcar etc.

I know halford is a rip off for most things, but can be quite cheap on other things, and like you said, especially on offers in some cases.

As for FK, theres a full suspension kit on ebay by FK for £150 new.... lowers it 60/40 at the front and 40 at the back....

Obviously this is a budget suspension kit, but its fk, and its the cheapest ive seen, so its appealing to me around about now
