going back to the standard air filter box rather then my K&N57i induction, just going to see if it makes a difference as my car has been running poo and ppl keep telling me its to do with air flow etc so we\'ll see. Anyhow, on the standard black boxs, there is a filter thing when you open it up.... ive seen on ebay that u can buy branded name ones of these i.e k&n, pipercross etc...... is it worth getting one or wont it really do anything for me in terms on engine note and sound......... ta

Yes, get a replacement element for your airbox. Better still, get a Pipercross element.

1) Cheaper than K&N
2) Will flow air three times longer than cotton-gauze (K&N) and about two times longer than paper filters before they clog.
3) It\'s washable so after 25-30,000 miles just clean it and refit. No need to buy any more panel filters!
4) Might get a bit more power than a standard filter

So what is better for a 1.4i 16v sport a panel filter from pipercross or a viper kit..!

Depends what you\'re after and what your budget is.

The Viper gets rid of the airbox which is a load of sh[/b]it. But the panel filter is £218 cheaper.

Viper gives a nice induction note, panel doesn\'t really do anything to the sound unless you drill your airbox which means you run the risk of losing pressure in the box.

Viper won\'t give amazing gains on the 1.4 engine until you get rid of the inlet manifold. Panel will give less gains than a Viper.

Throttle response is vastly improved with a Viper, not as noticeable with the panel.

Both Viper and panel are lifetime filters so never need changing.

Viper is available in red, silver or black and has a lovely deep gloss carbon fibre heat shield (unless you\'re broster and have an old carbon). Panel filter is hidden inside a poxy airbox.


I\'ve always said that on my 1.6 Corsa, the best all round filter was the BFO cone / Pipercross XL cone. It sounded and looked amazing.

I want my corsa to get of the start quicker so should i go for the viper kit....

Yeah, change the inlet manifold for something from Lexmaul, Mantzel, etc.

Any airfilter will only increase fuel consumption if the ECU updates itself to the new airflow values. You will only use the extra fuel if you drive harder, which most people normally do with an induction kit.

Drive sensibly and you might find your fuel economy improves!

The Viper will improve that initial throttle response through the gears, so yes get one

Approx £400-450 new. Look for second hand on ebay.

Much point for what? Fitting an induction kit?

For performance no, but it makes the car more fun to drive

They don\'t make the inlet manifolds for the 8v engines.

Get a pic of it, might be an odd one.

So if i bought my self a viper induction kit and cold air feed with a lexmaul inlet what bhp would i be lookin at with my 1.4i 16v sport

15bhp gains from and induction kit didnt think that was possible i am goin for the viper kit and a lexmaul just gotta find out how much a inlet is...i would be happy with 115bp if that was possible...

None of the boxes we have says there\'s a gain of 15bhp.
