right.. ive recently installed some components up front, and have a 10\" kicker inpulse Sub waiting to be installed in the boot. At higher volumes my components are sounding good but all i can hear coming from the back is distortion, which messes the sound up. Now here lies my dilema ive heard that for various reasons you shouldnt really install 6x9s and a sub as the two will work against eachother (if installed in the parcel shelf). First of all i would like (in understanable terms if possible!) to know why this is, is it to do with the sub and 6x9\'s using the same air (in the boot) to move? If im not to install 6x9s in the parcel shelf then i will need to either replace the standard rear speakers, or jsut disconnect them to get rid of the distortion coming from the rear of the car. Is replacing the standard ones in the same place they already live an option and what size speakers would fit there?? and any other ideas about positioning some 6x9\'s or comps/coaxials in the rear of the car bearing in mind i dont want to hack up the rear interior panels??
Cheers, sorry about the multitude of questions!
Tony

the easest setup would be comps in the front. sub in the boot and replace the speakers in the rear quarters for a bit of rear fill best run of the headunit). If the front comp\'s are amped you need to set the gain on the amp. if there not amped you just need just need to set the head unit up with a 70/30 fade to the front then that just leaves you the sub to set up (gain)
As for 6x9\'s get rid of them more hassle than there worth
as for my setup i run
rainbow comps amped @ 75w Rms in the front
jbl 5.25 (13cm) in the rear quarters (standard location) run on the rear channel of the head unit but faded out
12\" sub in the boot amped with an alpine 350W monoblock (soon to be changed for a SWD-1600 as i need my boot)
also i have dynamated the front doors an boot which made a big diffrence.
if you have any more questions post\'em up

cheers matey. This does seem like the best option for me, im currently running front components from the head unit. but when i get my amp installed, could run them from that. Do the 13cm speakers fit without any adaption or modification into the rear?

if you take the rear speakers out you will find thay are not screwed in you just twist them an thay come out. Its a bit hard to expain tho. ideally you need a set of speaker that have 4 mouting points like these
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product ... ts_id=4136 then all you need to do is line the up on the mount give them a twist and wire them up

The rear speakers sit in the rear 1/4 trim so a sub wont interfere with them. As for speaker size your thread was moved into the ice part of the site with the answers you need......

I\'ve got a set of Rockford Fosgate 6x9s in my custom parsel shelf, and i\'ve amped them to a 400w shark amp. When I wired a sub in they still sounded good, but with only minimal disturbance to the 6x9s. Then I made boxes for the 6x9s (which i padded out with acoustic insulator) and they sounded even better!
Just thought i\'d share my experience on the situation!
