Power cap + battery problem

Post by ajm_1.2 »

Ive resently killed my first battery. problem is that the car doesnt really go far in the week cuz i use the work van. i have resently installed a 1.2 farad power cap and was wondering if that could be slowly draining the battery down while car is off road. Im currently running a 400w amp + 250w sub but im in the middle of buying another sub and amp to add to the system, so i think it might need the power cap then but cant have the battery dieing on me each week.

Has anyone else had probs with power caps?
Should i just get a yellow top battery?

any help appreciated.

power caps are a waste of money and are pointless thay cause more problems than thay solve just for show imo

With the amount of power you running some decent cable should do the job (ditch the cap)then first thing todo is upgrade the big 3 under the bonnet then the alternator and battery if you want to run major power

a few good ice forums

http://www.icecavern.com/forum/index.php good bunch of guys on here and a few pro\'s/installers

or

http://www.talkaudio.co.uk a very large ice forum very helpfull too

What do you mean by \'big 3\'? and will a corsa deisel alternator be a straight swop.
Cheers for the links.

edited....... You need firstly to make sure your electrical system has bigger ground cable than stock, make your ground cables from chassis to battery 4AWG or bigger. Make your chassis to Alternator 4AWG or bigger. Make your POWER output cable 4AWG or bigger from Alternator to Battery. This is commonly known in the Car audio industry as TB3 (the big 3) and it will stop headlight dimmimg etc.

not to sure on the alternator you dont really need to change it unless you running a fair amount of power
