been told today my car is a write off, not a write off where the car is totally wrecked but a write off where they are saying it will cost too much to get it back to how it should i.e. it will be more then the car is worth..... So they are going to pay out, how much i dont know !!! i valued the car at £2200 last year, what will they give me for it now ? also if i wanted to buy it back from them would they want silly money or could i get it really dirt cheap?

I know when my friends car was written off, it was standard bar alloys and lowered. He was given the option to keep the car and get less money back. Was valued at £2500 but he took the car plus £1000. Used that money to fix it.
Know u could get it repaired cheaper anyway as can get 2nd hand parts etc, fit it yourself

You can request the car back.

If the damage isn\'t bad but will cost alot they will just say it is un-economical to fix.

same as what others have said, you can ask for it back and buy it off the insurance, but it may be easier to let them have it and write it off then buy something with the cheque...

hmmm so if they take it and pay out ? can i not go take my alloys off etc lol or would i have lost them ? :s

i think you could have lost them, i could be wrong though.... ring up the place that took your car and ask them,

i paid £565 for those things and they maybe goneee goneee, cant be having that lol, ill be ringin up and asking for them back if it gets wrote off, if not ill take the steelies off the courtsey car they gave me lol

engineer just rang :p values the car at £1900 and said i wouldnt get my alloys etc back unless i had the standard ones and if i did want them back then the value of the car would decrease, he has said i can take the car back for £570 and take £1330 instead, which is prob worth it considering i can sell the alloys for around £400 hopefully, the exhaust and so on and them bits for spares / repairs !!!

I would just take all the money tbh. Get it all in a one-r and spend it on another car. Save messing about trying to sell things

you find me another decent car like that and ill take the money i cant find any i did want to get a 1.4 or something but doubt i can do that now, not if i have to spend money on another car lol
