on a standard corsa can i get away with about a 40mm drop without causing to much havoc when it comes to speed bumps etc. or what would be the best height to drop it, obviously all the way and use hydraulics, but thats a wee bit too pricey for me at the min.

What wheels have you currently got on it??
40mm drop shouldnt be too bad, not that hard & should still be ok with speedbumps!
Try get a pair of matched springs & shocks, will help sort out the \'choppy-ride\' effect sometimes seen with just using springs.
Cost for a decent set of Springs & Shocks will be about £350 (Koni Yellows & eibach springs) Or you can get some \'budget\' kits for around £200 notes tho...
I\'m going extreme tho on my GSi, down 60mm on Coilovers soon
Coilovers can and WILL cost in excess of £450... Mine are worth near £600, but I got them for just under £500 new
Airbags... your talking well over £1000!
Look for Teddy\'s GSi, give a rough idea of how a 60mm drop looks!

shouldnt be aproblem with standard wheels, just make sure (if u do) get rimz u get the offset rite to avoid rubbing, or if your go for an etreme job, get the arches done.
I wanna go for a 45mm drop on mine with new springs and dampers, but cant do it till i leave college or cant get in and out the entrance coz its a horrbile dip

mines lowered 60 on 16\" alloys, got some photos in my album if you want a look. needs extremely low profile tyres tho or it rubs like a bitch, and back seat passengers are a definite no

40mm will be absolutly no problem at all!
Personaly i think i think that it doesnt do O_o all to the appearance, hardly noticable IMO!
If you wanted a bit of both worlds id reccomend you get a set of 40mm VX NOVA springs, this will lower your corsa 50mm b cos nova springs go lower for a corsa up 2 10mm!
