What difference does high octane fuel make? can i put it in my corsa, and do i have to run my car empty beforehand?

No you can run it anytime you like. I use it. It costs a lil more but its better for your engine. If im right (sum1 correct me if im talking ****) its thinner and lubricates the engine more making the engine effectivley last longer.....I think!! Not sure if im rong bout this either but i found a tiny increase in performance after using super unleaded from normal unleaded. Improved accelleration, no real gain in top speed..... well maybe youll get an extra 1mph from it!! lol
Someone let me know if im wrong

the reason its better for your engine is because fuel that has a higher octane level can withstand more compression before it ignites, so when you run your car on hi octane you get a better flame pattern and is less likely to pink. Thats why most jap cars should be run on hi octane because generally jap engines have a higher compression ratio for more power.
if you run a jap car on regular it usually runs cr*p because it pinks. hope this helps si

i use optimax and it is better i used to run tesco super but wasent as good.
on a hevily modified car (i mean engine wise) you can get a big bhp gain.
they done this on fifth gear and found out that optimax was having 40bhp gains on modified scoobys
