keep it fairly simple - comps up front (amp\'ed). upgrade the rear speakers to coaxials and run them of the head unit (faded out) and a sub in the boot

depends wether you want sq or just plain loud. for the type of music you listen to i wouldn\'t go over a 12\" sub to keep up with the bassline of the music. I would go for a decent 10\" sub either JL, Alpine or the new\'ish Rainbow Hammer seires

A decent set of comps up front is a must to keep the sound stage up front (you dont sit in the back when driving do you!! do you). I like the sound of the rainbow 265 deluxe comps what to me sound better than my alpine comps ever did but its down to your own personal preferences and budget

As for rear speakers just change the standard rear speakers in the rear 1/4\'s to a set of coaxails and run of the head unit. mine are faded out 90% of the time anyway

Sound deadening is well worth the money and will change the whole way a system sounds

One last thing power caps are a waste of money and steer clear of 6x9\'s (only ever buy them if you cant have a sub and you realy want some carp sound in the back)

when i said rear 1/4 i ment the rear 1/4 trims (the bit the parcel shelf rest on) the standard speaker are mounted in them

Its up to you what you get and what money you have to spend makes a big diffrence as for the sub 1 decent sub will sound a lot better than a pair of cheaper subs

whats your budget ? and do you need a new head unit (stereo)

If he\'s listening to Hip-Hop, surely bigger would = better, as basslines in hip-hop are typically lower and less punchy than dance and other music types, so sumthin\' like a 15 would give better sounding bass than a pair of 10s (I personally have found this to be the case)

Its dependant on the speaker and box design (too many varables) and what the excursion rate is of the sub is to how quickly it moves normaly any thing over a 12\" is slower. It all depends what your after if you want a pair 15\" for spl/street bass (and deaf by the time you 50-60) or a 10-12\" for SQ

Also some us use the boots for shopping\'n\'stuff not filled to the brim with ply/mdf or fibreglass

marky. I am too old
