Just wondering if anyone can help me out.

I drive a \'95 GSi and when its freezing cold weather (like it has been over the past few weeks),if i put my foot down the engine light lights up on the dashboard.
But if i pull over and turn the ignition off, then start the car again it goes off after a few seconds.

I was told its to do with the K&N filter which i have got on it.

This only occurs now and again but it seems to do it when its cold weather.

Is it worth me putting it on fault diagnostics test and seeing if that brings a fault up?
:!: [/b]

mines like that (not a gsi though) it comes on now and then, mine doesnt lose any power or anything its just normal, i think mine is cos my airfilter needs cleaning, as its not taking in much air.

yup would be worth doing a fault-code reading, look in the FAQ on here for info on how to do it...

Si... TBH I never have any problems with mine in the cold with my induction kit, the \'only\' time I did have an issue was down the pod, but I never did a reading there!

The limitations of the air and fuel mix in the cold weather is critical on the running of the car.

In the really cold weather the car will be able to suck more denser cold air - hence more air into the engine - the engine management is not designed to cope with an induction kit taking this much air and wont be able to take enough fuel - hence why your ECU light is coming on.
