Hello everyone,
As I am newbie here please be nice to me
I will shortly be looking for a Corsa but do not know which model i should consider. I am just looking for a moderately powerful yet reliable and economical \"runabout\". Also, when looking at a Corsa, what parts of the car require close inspection with respect to rust, worn components etc?
I have about £2k to £2.5k to spend what do you think I\'d get for that sort of money?
I\'d rather it be economical rather than fast
Thanks in advance,
Spud.

If you get the GSi, 9 out of 10 are high-maintenance ones
the 1 out of 10 are the dead non-repairable ones
Mines cost me shy of 1k in maintenance so far since I got it last year...
1.4i Sports are good, expect 350-380 miles to a full tank on motorway driving, there pretty good with petrol & also quite nippy around the town!

got to watch out for blown headgaskets, check in oil for whit deposits, and in the water to see if its got oil in it... (it\'ll usually smell a bit funky anyway)
not to much of a problem if its been replaced... just make sure the exhaust isn\'t puffing out blue smoke, a sure sign that oil\'s getting down the side of the pistons and burning. pretty good on rust, like every ones said, a Coors 1.4 or 1.6.

yeh as been said, if its your 1st car get a 1.4 sri or sport and if you can afford it and the insurance get a 1.6 gsi i sport.
Also check the B pillars for cracking as this can be expensive to fix and can fail the mot, check underneath the car for rust aswell and check the engine and exhaust. Also the interior shows signs of mileage

Thanks for all the replies - much appreciated. As I\'m going to be doing quite a few miles in it (when I get it) I think I might have to go for a smaller engined model. Would a 1.0 12V be completely gutless or should I aim for a 1.2 as a minimum? Cheers,
spud

mate get an sxi b they have the 1.2 16v engine, corsa sport seats and doorcards, slightly tinted windows, spoiler, alloys as standrad then you get all the creature comforts like airbag, central locking, leccy windows, power steering etc, there alos quite fast aswell for a 1.2 think top speed is about 102mph or something like that. + i got quoted £1250 on one by tesco with no no claims @ 17 years old. you\'d probably get a good s/t reg one for £2500,
i would not go for a 1.0 though there gutless, and they take about 20 seconds to get tho 60 when the sxi does it in about 13.
also dont pay extra for a special because there basically just a bog standrad merit or breeze with a dfferent interior.
it does depend on your age though, insurance compnays aren;t going to touch you if you have a gsi @ 17. the same applies to the sport which according to the haynes manual is only 5mph slower than the sxi.
