Filled the tank up earlier, stopped filling at the first click and paid up...
Then went for a little drive... About 17 miles urban (50/60 limit, windy A road), then about 104 miles motorway. Total was 121.8 Miles according to the odometer.
Got back home, thought my fuel gauge was bust, as it was reading half way between 3/4 and full (the needle was just touching the side of the 4 on the 40) so went to top the tank up and check it...
The pump clicked at £8.72...
Tank was full...
Worked out the MPG on this site:
http://www.fuel-economy.co.uk/calc.shtml
Under Real-Life Miles Per Gallon, I entered fuel @ 103.9ppl, 8.72 total spend, and 121.8 miles on the odometer. Gave me an average of 65.8MPG... What the ????
And no, the car DIDNT break down, it got there and back all under its own steam. No refulling anywhere else on the journey except for the Shell garage at home.
All in - not bad for a mildly-tuned 1.6 16v which is also a little f**k

i get about 60-70 miles to a gallon when im on a motorway run,
i drive from where i am to basingstoke almost every weekend, i fill up before i leave,
its 66 miles there and if i do 60mph i only use just under 1 gallon, and to think im running uprated inlet manifold, full exhaust system and a big old piper cone.
round town i only get about 20 to a gallon if im lucky, i end up having to fill up coz the tanks dry every weekend, and i only work 5 miles away from where i live. CAR = JUICY ROUND TOWN.
oh and have you noticed your fuel gage if you get caught up in traffic for a fair time, every time that engine fan cutts in boy oh boy does it drink.

My engine fan is wired up to be on permanently
so considering thats running, and I had my lights on, its pretty damn good!!
Omega did 500 miles to a tank once, well, still had 1/4 left

i have the real diesel i struggle to get less than 46mpg wen im nailing it!
compared to my friend who has the same car but the 150bhp petrol version
he gets 17mpg driving steady and yes 9 when tanning it!
i know it isnt relevant but i thought id say, used to fill my 1.0i corsa up bout £28 a week
new car i put in £30 every 2 weeks!

ok ok no need to rub it in
When I get an Omega again, I'll be lucky to make more than 25mpg being a 3ltr

hehe sorry just cant belive how good my MPG is lol
could be worse, that fella with the vauxhall victor (you know the one that does 0-60 in under 2 seconds)
he says he does about 3MPG when driving easy
thought the omega was a 2.0 and 2.5 didnt know they made a 3.0 version?

Pre-2001 models came in 2ltr 8v (pointless), 2ltr 16v (again, pointless, but a bit more pokey) 2.5 V6 (nay bad), 3.0 V6 (cream of the crop)
There was also a 2.5TD (BMW Engine) which has a habit of spitting its dummy out...
2001-2003 line was 2.2 16v Petrol, 2.2 DTi, 2.6 V6 and 3.2 V6.
