The purpose of the tube running from the exhaust manifold to the airbox surely this is just pumping hot air into the engine?!

got it in one.
helps with cold starts helps the cold air to heat up so it will allow the fuel to atamise more easely.

lol thanks i was thinking with my overheating problem taking it out, still cant find the thermostat!

easyest way to identify the thermostat is lok in your engine bay (obviously lol)
and look at the coolant pipes there should be one thick pipe connected to the cylinder head or top of the engine block, this is where you will find the thermostat.
