hi everyone.
this is probrably gonna be long so here it goes. please be patient
im guessing fitting a c20let is a big job but is it possible for someone to fit one with quite a bit of mechanical knowledge .(not a fully qualified mechanic, just self taugh)

would you advise me to have a go at fitting one myself or just get it done by a professional.

also i have no idea what gearbox to use. ive no idea about gearboxes.

what does the job involve cos ive never fitted a full engine before. im guessing you would have to strengthen the chassis and put in a new wiring loom and stuff like that.

OR!!!!

what engines have quite a bit of power that are easy to fit. mines a 1 litre at minute and engined on its way out.
(parents car for 4 years and it had never been serviced. everything seems to stop working on it so instead of fixing it i might as well get a new engine)

mines a one litre and its on its way out too, if u want to do it yourself itd be quite a big job with it bei a 3 cylinder engine, the wirign loom is totally different wer as if it was a 4cylinder the loom is easier to change round cos you can keep some bits, so id take it to a place or someone whos knows wat there doin, ull need big brakes easy get em from a v6 or 2ltr turbo cav or calibra yer ur chassis will need strengthenin big job if u dont no about gear boxes, ull want an f28 i think.

how much would it cost roughly to get one fitted then. would it be cheaper getting the engine and the brakes and stuff separate or would it be better just to buy a 2.0 litre calibra and use brakes and stuff off that.

havent a clue how much its all gonna cost but i really want it doing

just passed my test aswell so insurance is gonna cost a bomb. ittle be worth it though leavin my mates car for dust after him taking piss out of its performance at moment.

what speeds can u get out of a tuned c20let in a corsa

c20let in a corsa will go off the clock, the standard cav/cali c20let clocks are gd for 160, and they are close to knockin them, if they dnt, cnt remember off the top of my head

try http://www.jncracing.co.uk they do it uf anywhere near nottingham, itd cost aroud 2000 quid for it to be done if u can get an engine if not around 3500, ull need a different clocks in ur corsa cos if its like my one litre doesnt have rev meter, im sure u can get it cheaper than that just have to find places that do it, chris astley motorsport do them aswell, but try and source parts as well.

Or you could get just a 2ltr non turbo xe engine, or a 1.6 c16xe,x16xe,z16xe or 1.8 x18xe,z18xe ive been tempting with the idea of a z18xe out of a corsa c sri, there good for 300bhp+ with the dbilias turbo.

thats not a bad idea actually. itll be a lot cheaper to get a 1.6 anyway i would have thought.

im guessing it will be easier to fit aswell

mate if you want a project do wat i did at my garage hehehe here goes...

on my 1.0l sting 12v i converted it too a 2.7 modded engine... was not enough room for it as standard as you could imagine but once youve hacked away at it and raised the bottom off it and got rid off all the unercarys like screen tanking and the motors for the wipers etc there enough room .....
hard kicked the suspension from a porche boxtster ..... engine was from the porsche 911 with a super kit
anyway

once wee finally got it all going after bout 4 months lol
we took it down the yard and the thing like ruined the tyres lol it shook and the front end was guna cum up if the engine wasnt soo heavy but the back was spinning out everytime u tocuhed the pedal

so we finaly scrapped thatt and got the shell from the porsche and made another rally :D insane ....
but ye it costs bout 1800 labour mate its pricey....

x

yeri also keep temting with the 1.6 iv got enough to get it done now but im thinking i will want more power than the 1.6 lump can give me so the 1.8 is my next challengebut im still throwing ideas at the wall so far and seeing which ones bounce back. lol
