gearbox issues

Hi chaps
My lads 1600 corsa sport has had a gearbox problem.
I have got another second hand one but it seems to have an issue.
I have removed the selector linkage and that is free but the bar with the cut out in that moves left and right to adjust the gears does not move.
Is this a terminal fault or might it be very still due to being sitting for a while??
The one that came out moves easily!
