Hello, Ive got a 1.4 16v sport. recently ive been having some problems. about 5 times ive been driving along and the engine warning battery looking light comes on and the engine cuts out.. not that good when you going down country lanes at 90. if im sitting somewhere with the engine on and music on the music sometimes just cuts out and i have to jump start the car if i turn the engine off. The other day i lit a fag and waited for the car to warm up a bit and the music and headlights just suddenly went really low until i revved the engine and they went to full sound and brightness... would this be the alternator? if so how easy is it to swap and where to buy one from?
Cheers very much

Get a multi meter on it, battery voltage should be 12V off and 14 point something ish running. Have a quick look at the major wiring around hte battery alternator and starter motor too just to make sure its in the right place and not corroded.

egr valve shouldnt affect your electrics?!
egr valve stands for Exhuast Gas Recycle Valve basicly all it does is pump some exhuast gas in to your engine to burn it again
maybe having you on mate id get it double checked
alot of people actualy blank off the EGR valve get a slight increase on perfomance

Correct me if i'm wrong but is the EGR not the same as the O2 sensor??? If so a genuine one is an extortionate £16.00 +P&P from LMF

no the O2 sensor is basily the Lambda Sensor its on the ehxuast to detect how much O2 is in the emissions so your ecu can adjust the fuel injection etc etc
