Im after a new engine in next couple of months but dont know what to get.

earlier i was gonna just get a 1.6 and stick that in but i cant see the point in spending money on a 1.6 and wishing id have got a 2.0

so im not sure weather to go for c20let of c20xe.

what would price difference be and if i got an xe wouldnt i just be able to fit a turbo after??

im 17 aswell so both are gonna rob me of all my money when i come to insure it

what does everyone think

its a 1 litre 12 valve at the mo aswell

if ur only 17 stick with ur 1.0 for a year or so, insurers more than lik wont insure u but would in around the 3500 n 4grand mark, price wise a let to be done somewhere who does them would be 2000, 2500. a xe would be 1500 to 2000, u could trubo an xe but ud need to uprate everything to let standard, if ur gonna do it urself itll be alot cheaper but u need to know alot about how to do it really, 1 litres have only 3 cylinders so most of the loom on a 4cylinder is needed, an xe wouls be about 500quid with gearbox, and iv seen lets goin for over a grand, they have become like rocking horse poo, id like to see someone invest in a 1.6turbo engine from a corsa vxr into a corsa b, think it would be sweet!

be cheapest to get a let than convert to xe
problem with xe and let engines, alot of them get used in corsa's and as a result get thrashed to death
cant see you getting one with less than 90k on it which is alot for a replacment engine, epseicaly if ur current engine has done less!
also alot of xe's and let's flying about cheap are usualy from stolen cars (well round here they are anyway)

if i was doing a conversion id get a x20xev from a vectra, basicly the ecotec version of the xe
think the xev is 136bhp the redtop is 150bhp
altho the advantage of the xe and let is you can have the f28 six speed gearbox (not sure if you can have on the xev)
