Hi all
Just wondered, my corsa combo van 1.7 isnt a good starter at the moment when turning the key to the glow plug position the warning light for the glow plugs comes on briefly a second or two at most, is this a glow plug problem or is it likely to be a relay that controls the lenth of time the plugs should warm up for, if it is a relay or something similar is it an easy thing to change. any help will be mutch appreciated.
thanks lloyd

It does start ok when warm, it is the small amount of time that the glow plug indicator stays on for that makes me think it might be some sort of timed relay controlling the plugs that could be the problem.
thanks lloyd

the relay should be located behind the drivers kickplate in the footwell
(next to your right foot)
heres a diagram

it could also be black but its yellow in that pic
try having a listen while you swich the ignition on as the relay clicks when it swiches off
should be between 5 and 10 seconds afta the ignition is swiched on
if it clicks off straight away then its ur relay if not id say ur plugs
my experiance in this sort of thing is usualy just the plugs, if they dont work right then they will also make the glowplug light go out
but check the relay 1st as they are cheaper to replace than a new set of plugs!
hope this helps pal
