right basicaly sat in traffic today temp gauge started goin up. got home checked for blockages on radiator pipes couldnt find none. checked the fan switch that worked fine and kicked in just after 100 on the gauge. oil level seems ok. no white gunk under oil cap. water in the header tank looks a bit misty and dirty. so just wanna know if this could be causing the problem or could it be somthing more major. any help would be great. cheers.

thats normal your car isnt overheating dont worry
the fan dosnt kick in till around 100but anyware between 90 and 110 is about the norm
if you really want to try flushing out ur radiator and mixing some new coolant might help a bit but id say ur cars fine

to drain your radiator theres either a little bolt on the bottom to unscrew to drain it or a pipe you can disconnect. to flush it basically just run a load of liquid from the top and let it drain. thats the easiest way to do it.

well its not really a problem. from what i've found out, the corsas run hot. you could try getting a thermostat that runs at a lower temp and hardwire your fan to permantly be on.

usualy when the weathers hot or your sat in traffic or say quing at a drive thru
since no air is hitting the radiator just gets hotter and hotter, then ur fan swiches on to keep it cool

I have noticed this more in the corsa than any other car i have owned or driven. If your sat in a traffic the temp gauage shoots up over half temp and your like
but once you start driving again it soon falls down back to normal

usualy find that newer cars get hotter still as they have more gadgets and gizmos on it which makes the engine have to work harder and then in turn get hotter
it isnt a problem, as long as your thermostat is working right your car should rarly go over the 100/105 mark new or old
i remeber when i bust my radiator and recplaced it, i left the engine running for about 2 hours
the temp kept creeping up to 100 then the fan would kick in get it back to 90 then it would creep back to 100 etc etc etc
