Excuse by naviety, but i am still learning

When looking for replacement front speakers on net i come across tweeters listed on various different sites, wondering what they actually did?

Small speakers that reproduce treble. Generally I wouldn't fit these alone. But they would be a necessary part of set of either component speakers or incorporated into a coaxle speaker.

Well my set up is like this (nothing fancy at all) have to 600w speakers already in car when bought, so hooked these up to a cheapish kenwood cd player which has output 4x50w , but my front speakers are blown so was going to get some cheap upgrades (at moment sounds really bad) these speakers i had in mind are (i think) 190w
