fuse blown?

Eventually managed to install a ministry of sound cd player into my w reg (2000) corsa trip B

now it was all working and everything was fine, but i was having trouble getting it far back into the casing, i was about 1 inch from having it fully in when i heard a mini spark and seen a spark through the side of the new cd player (without the front on, just the base box) and since then it will now not come on

ive checked the fuse on the cd player and its not damaged

so does this mean its more likely my car fuse? or the cd player?

and if its the car fuse where abouts can i gain access to it

think the head unit is fused with the clock and interior light, would think it would blow the main one first, so if these don't work then its a good bet. the main fuse box is down right of the steering wheel, but i don't remember the number of the fuse. If it has earthed out like that though there is something very wrong with the wiring to have a bare live there.

hello mate and welcome to corsa-b. :D

Ok, have you tried to drive the car since blowing the fuse? The main fuse box is located just up from the pedals (acc brake clutch) under a plastic lid. if you open the door and look at the pedals, then look at the bit of dash above that and work your way back up to the steering wheel you will see it.

If you start the car up and rev it (only do this if you have a rev counter) and the rev counter doesnt move then you have probably blown fuse 17. Again look up at your MFD (the screen with the time date) and it that doesnt light up when you put the key in, you have prob blown fuse 17. Now if you look in your owners manual (if you have one) you will be able to find fuse 17, if you dont have an owners manual i can point you in the right direction if you reply quick enough so its still light outside i can take pictures.

Also if you got alittle lost where the fuse box is just let me know and i will run out and get pictures.

Hope that helps

i mean it was working fine, until i pushed it back a bit to try and fit it in fully , then it sparked, however my clock and interior lights still work

but the fuse in the cd player isent blown, so i dont know what to think? i dont want to take the cd player back if theres nothing wrong with it i got a really good deal

sorry iv only just replied mate my internet went funny and i couldnt get online.

Hmmmm if im honest mate sounds more like your headunit than a fuse, BUT im not 100% if a fuse in the fuse box operated the wiring for the headunit, give me 5mins and i will dig out my owners manual

when i blew a fuse in mine it was 17, but if your MFD is still working then it cant be 17. Right mate, do me a favour, go out and see if your hazard lights work
