Engine Trouble HELP!!!

I rectly bought a club 1.0l 12v and there is something majorly wrong with the engine. Firstly, often it idles at just over 200 rpm, with the battery light flickering on and off every so often. Secondly if it has not been run for a while (five or so hours) it will not rev past 1500 rpm until i lift the bonnet and rev from under the bonnet until hitting then rev limit. I'm guessing thats because the throttle cable is getting stuck. Thirdly when first running it in a morning it will keep dieing everytime in put my clutch in, at a junction for example, this happens for the first half mile or so, this is much worse after ithas been raining. Fourthly when travelling up steep hills the engine managment light comes on and the engine looses power, to solve this I put it into neutral and rev it slightly until the managment light turns off, and then I can continue up the hill in first or second gear if im lucky. This also happens randomly on flats or downhill but no very often. Fifthly often the engine bogs down and looses power without the engine management light coming, this happens randomly, there is no connection with the speed, gear or road layout. I decided to get it serviced but when i rang up to get it booked the mechanic said it would cost more than the cars worth, how cheap are nine year old Clubs? I payed 800 for mine and ive seen them going for upto 1500 on autotrader.
What the hell is wrong with my car!?

and servicing costs shouldnt be anymore than about £100
i payed £75 for my corsa servicing, and now costs me £125 for my ibiza servicing (thanks to a special engine oil that it requires at £50 for 4 liters)
relaly dont think servicing should cost more than the cars worth, unless its a right mess

what £50 for 4litres?!!! omg i can buy 50litres what you paid
... also when you open bonnet look at you air pipe... check there is no leaks from it,. and take those two bolts out... if it has any and you should see a nut either side make shure u tighten then up as they come lose and can cause the effect what you have.

Sounds like your having the exactly same problems im having with my 1 liter engine. Apart from the not been able to rev it beyond 1500rpm which mine will do when cold.
When I start the engine from cold it will idle around 1000rpm till it warms up. If it's started when the engine is warm (recently ran) the engine will struggle to start but will then idle around 200rpm with all sorts of vibrating sounds. Around 10,15 seconds later the engine will then return to normall idleing speed.
Now this is since i replaced the AIR FLOW Meter with another brand new BOSCH one. Now the engine warning light is constantly on but the car doesn't seem to stuggle up hills as it used too.
I've had the machanics look at it and they are saying all the sensors seem fine but the ECU isn't talking to the AIR FLOW Meter. They've checked the cable between the two but can't understand why. Seems very wired. They are now wanting to take my car in and send the ECU off to a place where they can be repaired.
Have you had your car looked at at all? / or had it on a fault code reader?
