well...easy option for quick power is the fuelling.

throw a set of twin carbs on it, and thats easy power. however you will need to cam it and port and polish the head. it's worth doing these first however as you may find these will improve it quite a bit, and you'll be happy to not put carbs on. an inlet manifold is also a good idea...popular ones are the diblas and the Lexmaul.

there's a whole load of performance upgrades available so look around and know which way you wanna go b4 you start

okie pics added also as for the engine thing would i not be better geting the bigest engine and then doin them mod to that?
as my m8 has a 2L redtop in his corsa and when we go to a track i dont want my ars handed to me as im new to the hole car upgrade
the only thing ive had done is my sri with a kit that u can find in the corsa pic area if u wana take a look that my GF is gona use as ive got this one to play with
and if i did change the engine would it be a good idea to get one from the local scrapy? i mainly want it so i will gain my speed at the start of each gear change im not that botherd about topend its mainly i want fast acceleration when changin gears that why i was thinkin mabe a turbo as im shore thats there job not 100% on that tho but my main goal is fast acceleration in gears but im gona need as much power tho to keep up speed on the strait so all help with this info would be great thx for the help so far guys and keep it comin thx

okaayy....well the c20xe/2.0 16v (i hate the term 'redtop') is a very heavy unit! the main problem is destroying your handling. You could spend big money on an x16xe and put throttle bodies on it, allowing you to hit 200bhp with the 1.6. or you could go for a 2.0 8v.

The C20SEH is a 130bhp unit as std, and wit a few mods you could easily hit the best part of 180-200 bhp. It is waay lighter than the 16v and also easier to work on!

A turbo will only kick in after about 3k as it has to spin up in order to force the induction. It sounds to me like you're after low down torque, so i think a 2.0 8v with a close ratio F16 will do the job. Also, its not all about the power. If you look about and get some really good suspension, then you will be able to carry speed thru the corners better too. There's alot to think about and if its a track car then you certainly have more to think about than simply shoving a big engine into it!
