aparently a nova 1.3 sr camshaft and pistons etc will fit inside the 1.2 iv got alot of information on my home computer about that, i can post it up when i get home. then you could get a nova 8v carburettor manifold and get a webber carb and tune it up to within an inch of its life,

orr just say f**k it and thrash the hell out of the 1,2 8v and then wait till your 21 / 22 and drop a 2.0 in her.
TURBO LAG IS JUST FOREPLAY ;)

2.0 16v GSI SPORT TWIN WEBER 45'S AND KENT CAMS :]

humm ... there is nothing "cheap" for the 1.2 8v and to be honest there is no point ( not to put you down or anything ). There is a few things that you can do that might make a slight improvement though :

1. oil change.
2. new spark plugs and HT leads
3. leave standard air box in but put a K&N ( or similar ) panel filter in to allow engine to breath more easily.
4. Strip out the back seats and rear panels, and fit carbon fibre rear panels.
5. remove front door cards and again fit carbon fibre panels.
6. Dont fill your boot with a sound install ( eg subs & amps ) as these add weight and slow you down.
7. Maybe look at upgrading your exhaust system ( full stainless exhaust ) and a good quality backbox ... this allows the engine to get rid of the exhaust gasses more freely.
8. Remove all the carpet in your car and remove all the sound deadening material thats under it ... as this saves a fair bit of weight also ! then refit your carpet when your done.

Engine upgrades :

There is a number of options you have here :

1. Buy a 1.4 16v engine from a sport ( about £400 complete with gearbox, loom, ecu, driveshafts etc ) Also if you decide on this make sure you get the engine & gearbox mounts from the donor car. This is a nice little engine tbh and there is plenty that can be done to it and it should not be too bad on insurance ( if you tell them ) but be warned if you decide not to declair it.

2. Buy a 1.6 16v engine from sport/gsi .... pretty much same info as above.

3. Buy a C20XE off ebay .. i got mine for just over £100 ... all you need is the engine, gearbox, loom, and ecu .... with it not being a turbo its not as expensive to insure ! and your still getting 150bhp ( roughly ) in a corsa and if you have removed all the interiour its still going to be rapid. A turbo is a expensive car to run and alot of the LET engines on ebay etc have being hammered and the turbo's are normally at the end of there life !. With the C20XE engine you can do a rebuild on a stand ( as i have done so if you need suppliers and any help i will be more than happy ) during this time you could upgrade the pistons and fit a lightweight flywheel, this will give you better acceleration and make it alot faster of the line.

Back to your throttle body question ... you could fit webbers to the C20XE and remove the standard engine management .... this adds a hell of alot of power and sounds really good !

4. Buy a C20LET as you have already mentioned but this is definately a expensive route to go !

A C20Xe conversion kit from LMF vauxhall costs just over £300 this includes mounts, drive shafts, hubs, and outer CV joints. Or they sell a £600 kit from M-Tech the only difference being you get a powercap and a air filter ... thats it ! The powercap will still require you to cut your bulkhead but there is another option here where you can get rid of the powercap tottaly and in my opinion it looks like a neater install.

Anyway there is something for you to go on and i hope that it helps !.

haha ... how do you mean remove it ... you mean so you can fit a aftermarket one ?

If thats the case then no not at all there not impossible to remove .... just tough ! one bolt and a darn good TUG will have it off ... unless you have a airbag in which case you have to disconnect that safely before hand ... again the haynes manual gives clear instructions on how to remove both of them :)

TBH even though the C20XE engine is getting on 13 years old, there still used in motorsport today in all sorts of applications ... so if it was a bad engine then it would not be used ! its built like a poo house and with it being a older engine ... very easy to work on !

If you decide to do this i will have a engine stand for sale in the next few weeks :)

at the end of the day its a 1.2

you could go and spend thousands on it and its still gona be a 1.2

there not quick or fast cars, i personaly would save my money so when the insuence allows i cud upgrade the car or drop a x20xev, c20let etc. in
