Re: '96 Corsa Sport
It's basically a super cheap alternative to a Whiteline Rear ARB
Uses an ARB from a 2wd Rear Beam Model Cav, with drilled ends to mount to a Corsa Beam, and clamp supports in the middle
Original poster of the idea linked to his thread on MIG - http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/projects ... ub-42.html
I found it made a massive improvement in rear end grip, the car turns in better than it did too - the OE ARB is still fitted too

Re: '96 Corsa Sport
Righty.
Been busy this evening.
Carried on with some of the recoating of the Wiring Looms - the majority of them looked similar to this - partially exposed etc;
Once they have been recoated, they look like this;
The main reasons I'm bothering with doing this so that the looms look tidier, and it won't matter If i paint over them when I respray more interior - also saves me having to move them all when I do paint.
Then I got the screwdrivers and socket set out and did something I was threatening to do a while ago;
Dash out
Pile of bits removed;
Closer view;
This is so I can remove the remaining sound deadening and tidy up more wiring etc (especially the stereo wiring which is butchered)
Although I've sorted the sound deadening already...
Tomorrows task - more recoating of the Looms and the wiring repairs etc.

Re: '96 Corsa Sport
Had an early finish earlier, so got on with the faffing.
Main wiring issues - incorrectly sized crimps and poorly crimped connections;
Stripped back and new crimps fitted to one end of each wire;
Crimped fully;
Majority of dash looms and remaining cabin looms recoated;
Dash refitted and almost fully reassembled - needs a new vent and Fan Speed/Window Heater dial - plus the remaining removed parts refitting.
Ordering the Carbon Fibre in the morning, and will be getting under the car over the weekend to try to sort the Exhaust Blow. Again.

I didn't notice anything massively different with the Sound Deadening out - other than it being a LOT noisierjordyp wrote:can you feel the difference with all sound deadening and all that removed? what plans you got for it now? ive got the same pliers in the last pic :L does the rear arb link make a difference? did you make one or did you buy one? looks like itl be worth doing
Still, have taken out over 10kg with the Sound Deadening alone, and every little helps.
Plans? Got a sheet of Carbon Fibre on the way so that I can remove the Sunroof Cartridge and blank the hole - that'll be another 20-30kg removed and the centre of gravity lowered...
The ARB mod linked does make a massive difference IMO.
I made mine using the Bar from my old Cavalier.

Re: '96 Corsa Sport
Carbon Fibre ordered
Towing Strap ordered & received
Rivet gun & Rivets bought
Sealant & Gun bought
Spent yesterday evening under the car or sat behind it smashing the crap out of the Cat - there were some loose particles rattling in it sounding poo - so gutted it. Refitted with lots & lots of sealant and the like - if it gets abnother blow, I might get a new Cat and then get a Custom Exhaust place to make a flexi section on the Cat where it meets the downpipe to compensate for any movement whilst maintaining tight joints.
Still got to rebuild the Interior, ie fit the seats, cage etc, but may as well do that after I've done the sunroof blank which should be next weekend, otherwise i'd only be taking them out again!
Suspension is now all removed - bar the rear springs - all shocks are being swapped tomorrow for different, Spax shortened/adjustable ones.
Towing Strap arrived, but isn't fitted due to the missus stealing my car to go to the Stables and both of my drills were in the boot
Dash is all rebuilt bar the single air direction vent (will rob a new one from the scrappers next weekend)
Pics;
Tow Strap awaiting fitment;
Dash etc pretty much complete;
Car on stands with suspension off;
All tidied up and waiting for the replacements;
Getting there

Sport badges are staying, i like them.jordyp wrote:nice one mate, its really coming along, not to keen on the sport badges though, maybe c/c the door handles will look nice mate
Leaving the handles black - CCing would be pointless IMO, and make the side too white.

Re: '96 Corsa Sport
On the Bilsteins;
During the change;
After;
Some improvement - rear end is a bit lower and now has adjustable damping (tyres are just starting to tuck into the arch instead of there being a 20-25mm gap), front end is also a touch lower, and also now has adjustable damping - though I'm considering swapping the springs on the front again for another pair from my collection to drop it a tad further...
Still need to do some tweaking etc and figure out what is best for it, but that will have to wait until the interior is back to normal.
