HELP PLEASE :(
went to start my corsa this morning and it wouldnt start started second time but almost died trying revs were at like 200 and it barely started then turned it off and started it again and it made this horrible squeeking noise got my mate round whos a mechanic and he thought might be alternator or cambelt but not too sure was just wondering if anyone has had the same problem? it starts ok sometimes just not all the time and it drives fine when its started but still would like to have it fixed
pvs 2011 cant wait!

Re: HELP PLEASE :(
if the cam belt had snapped, it wouldnt start at all.
the screeching could be a slipping alternator belt... if you have access to a volt meter or multimiter, check the voltage of the batter when the car isnt started, anything less than 12 and your battery is either not geting charged ( possibly due to a slipping alternator belt, or the alternator itself is bggered.
next test, if you can get it started is to check the batter voltage while running, you should be gettign around 13.5 - 14.5 volts while the car is running, if so, this is goodm ,means your alternator is working. The screeching could just be the belt slipping on start up, does it disappear after a while? maybe the alternator bearing has collapsed, rsulting in no charging and giving enough slack for the belt to slip.
usually if your alternator has given up the ghost then you get the battery light on the dashboard come on. (or at least it has on all the cars ive owned in the past)
if the alternator is good then maybe the starter motor is on its way out, i mean you say it drives fine once started.
other than that youre gonna have to be bit more specific..

Re: HELP PLEASE :(
got it back from garage today they said because my exhaust is blowing (very bad) 3 different places which is making the lamba sensor put in too much air so the air to fuel ratio is all wrong i dont really know lol but i got to get a new manifold gasket and centre pipe and it will sort it out and the squeeking noise just stopped lol so should be alright

Re: HELP PLEASE :(
Never known a lambda sensor to make it virtually impossible fr the car to start, even duff temp sensors which adjust the fuelling depending on the temp dont really hinder the car starting to the degree u have describe.
